roughly $1300 more than this one:
http://www.goodoldgold.com/1_52ct_h_vs2_h&a.htm
Which is a very top of the line h&a diamond.
Thats the price you pay for a branded diamond like the eighternity.
Not too bad.

Did you compare the h&a diamonds to the eighternity?
What did you think of them?

Thanks: I do not have the picture since the stone is in route from a supplier to be received tomorrow or the next day.  But I will post.

The eighternitys that I looked at I compared right next to the h&R were all of the comparable clarity, ct, and color.  The eighternity was beautiful.  There was so much of a difference with the sparkle level.

The salesman also took the time for me to see the difference in the brillantscope.  I would not say that the h&A is better, but there is a lot of difference.

However I do not know if the difference equates to a price difference of $1,300.  That is a tough decision to make...especially since this is going over my budget.

my 2c

If it was me Id put a hold on the one I posted above.
Go in and look at them side by side and buy the one that speaks to you more vs. the price difference when the other one gets in.
You may need to put $500 down to hold it if I recall their policy right.
Then the $500 would be put towards the diamond you pick.
Being local gives you a big advantage :} I recomend using it.

It sounds like you loved the eighternity that you saw.  Can you go down slightly in size, color or clarity to help fit your budget?

Also, I wonder how the eighternity center will look with the H&A sidestones?

I could go down in size...but it is all the way from 1.5 to 1.3.  Trouble is most cutters will cut to a 1.5 or if they cant, to a 1.3 or a little above.  I dont know if I can do 1.31.  There is a lot of difference in size. I would be curious what the ladies on this site would say about a 1.5vs1.31?????

I put a 1.5 eighternity on hold with a refundable deposit..so that is already set.  I just need to wait a day for it to ship in and to see it.  Then maybe i can compare the H&A with the eighternity side by side and dicide about the price difference

And I have seen a another 1.5 but in higher quality in the setting I want with the actual .33 and .38 sides I would be getting--and it looks great.

Besides this, do the specifics about the ring that I listed seem fair?

Thanks for all of your responses so far...

It seems from your post that you really liked the Eighternity cut... and I think that is a good deal for a branded diamond.

But strmrdr has a great suggestion: place the similar H&A on hold, then go in to compare the Eighternity with the H&A side-by-side and see which one makes you happier.

I would like to see an Eighternity in person. I tried to locate an Eightstar dealer but the closest one was in the neighboring state! Ha!  When I compared the Hearts on Fire brand with the AGS0 great HCA score, I actually thought they were just as beautiful.  But you are talking about two different RB cuts there... cool!

Let us know what you decide. GL

Well...if I had my choice between a 1.3 and a 1.5, I'd pick the 1.5...

Alright, tomorrow if it should come in, I will place side by side and see the difference.

I am telling you that Eighternity looks awesome in person.  It is soooo cool.  It is a hearts & arrow quality..but with so many more facets.  There is not much difference (from my untrained eye) from the Eighternity and the solasfera by the way.

I cant wait to see how it measures on the brillancescope.  As soon as I get the pictures, I will post.

Thanks so far...
Any other comments?

I still have to wait another day...but, I do have some more figures to incorporate:

Fiant Fluorescence,
girdle: medium
depth : 58.1
table: 56
girdle: med faceted
culet: none
Ct: ET 1.50
Color: H
Clarity: vs2
Measurements: 7.50 X 7.54 X 4.37
PRICE: 13,627

It is a 3 stone so the sides will be .330 and .328 G sI1 H&A. and the price for this is 1459.  ALL TAXED

Based on this new info, what do you think?  ---good deal or keep looking

But.............  does anyone believe the depth is a little "shallow"  @ 58.1?  From what I have been reading here, the depth should be about 60 in most ideal H&A diamonds.

This may be different in Eighternity diamonds?--what do you think?

I noticed the shallower depth but wasn't sure if it was a problem.  I looked up a couple other Eighternities in stock and most have depths between 60-61%, but there are a couple others that have shallower depths, like this on here: http://www.goodoldgold.com/1_05ct_hvs2_et.htm

Perhaps shallower depths are more common in Eighternities due to the cut?  Best to ask GOG.

P.S. I see Good Old Gold now has a 1.54 I SI1 in stock here -- if you're willing to go down in color and clarity, this will probably be more in your budget:

I ended up switching my mind right at the last minute. The Eighternity really was nice...but then again, it did not speak to me as much as the H&A 1.383 I went with at GOG. Too bad the price jumped on all eighternity last night and the 13,600 price put the stone into the 15's

The smaller sides " made the center" in the end.  It was difference of almost 4K--and for the rise in clarity with the same other measurements, I think I made the right decision--I hope.  I spend just over 9K for the record which is a comparable price as other listing online.  As a perfectionist, I always second-guess myself.

You can buy a diamond online, but if you get a chance to see some of the vendors like GOG in person, it makes a big difference.  And for the record...they are great there (Tim you know who you are).  The markup on the diamonds is about the same, so any sale is the same sale to them.  There was no pressure at all.  They just want to find the best fit for you---hands down.  Thanks again for the tea, (expensive tea), HA.  Well I am off.  I had a great experience...here’s to the rest of my life.

Thanks again,

Why did the price jump last night from 13600 to 15000? Did Jonathan or Tim explain the reason?

I don't want to start any alarm as far as eighternitys....We were in the midst of finding out what requirements there were from the cutter for us to sell these stones online. As it turns out, over the web there is a minimum price point in order to keep all eighternity dealers on the same playing field. In the end...the stone would have cost the same as I had previously quoted to Chaz, but at the time I met with him I was unsure of this and wanted to make sure that he understood the possibility of a price change.

The 1.38 he picked out is a great stone and it was my pleasure to help him select it.

I hope this clears up any misunderstanding
