I just wanted to let everyone know that I recently received the loose diamond I purchased from Abazias and it was excellent, both the diamond and the experience. I dealt with John Zukowski and he was very willing to help make sure everything went as smoothly as possible and that I had all the information I needed to be comfortable with my online purchase. I narrowed down my choices to a number of places on the net and then called each place to get the additional information I needed (crown and pavilion angles as well as other info from the Sarin report). I ended up going with a Carat: 1.23 Polish: Excellent Symmetry: Excellent Color: H Clarity: SI1 Flour: None Diam (6.91 -6.96) Depth (4.16) Depth 60.2% Table: 58.5% Crown Angle: 35.0 Pavilion Angle: 40.5 Girdle: 1.8% (medium, faceted) Culet .6 HCA .7 Price: $6165 It didn’t really bother me that it was an AGS 1 given the low HCA rating. I might have changed the color to an “I” as I didn’t see much of a difference between the two when I compared it in the store. I also think I should have purchased two stones so that I could compare them at the appraiser. My second stone would have been a slightly more expensive H&A branded diamond which would have given me more options and allowed me to compare the two and determine if the extra money was worth it. One negative in the process was the Jewelry Exchange in Sudbury, MA where we bought the ring and had the diamond set. I was under a short timeframe and my fiancée wanted a 18K gold ring with a platinum head. This was a special order for most places but the Jewelry Exchange said they could do it within our timeframe. Unfortunately the customer service was terrible, they scare the crap out of you when you sign the waiver saying if they damage the stone when setting it they will send it away to try and have it cut smaller but besides that you’re screwed, and it only happened by luck that they had the platinum head in when we needed it because the salesperson had forgot to order it. Regardless, we are very happy with the diamond and the service from Abazias, and I am indebted to pricescope for all the help. |
