Yes--I'd never take them off! No--they pinch & spin too much.

Nooooo......I don't like the way they feel when sweat develops between them and my fingers![]() I even take them when I get any kind of water on my hands, I hate that feeling of having wetness under them! IrishEyes,AJP (GIA) |

I couldn't vote because I do wear them to the gym but usually take them off for certain weights I want to lift. I put them in a secure pocket in my shorts, but I'm sure some day I'll lose them. I'm constantly checking for them though. The reason I wear them is that they motivate me to keep going. I like looking at them in the gym lights (makes them sparkle better than Tiffany!). This is a sad confession, but when I'm running races, my sister usually tells me at some point to look at my rings, in the hopes of distracting me from the pain! ------------------------------ |

I don't wear my rings to the gym, but it's not because they're uncomfortable - it's because I don't want to bang them around! I used to wear my platinum channel set ring to the gym, since I wear gloves when I lift and even if I banged it on the elliptical trainer or something it wouldn't be so bad...but these new thin bands with prong set stones....will never see the light of day in my gym! I'll put them back on when I get home.

i voted no but not b/c it's uncomfortable but there is a lot of metal on my treadmill and i don't want to bang my ring unnecessarily.

I couldnt vote. Sometimes i do, sometimes i dont. I prefer to not wear them (esp when lifting), but i often go to the gym right after work and so end up wearing it. Im paranoid to leave it in my car (afraid someone will steal the car), paranoid to keep it in a gym bag (someone will pick the lock) and usually wear clothes that dont have pockets. The other day i actually took my ring and a necklace that has HUGE sentimental value off and stuffed in a hoodie pocket with my car keys on top to help keep it in. I was very careful with how i carried the hoodie and checked on everything a couple times. When i went to leave i carefully pulled out my car keys and down onto the tile floor my ring went! I now have a scratch on one of the prongs and lost my necklace once i got in the car... i was actually headed back to the gym praying it was in the parking lot and no one had seen it yet! Luckily it was in the floor. So no more taking stuff off for me!!!

I just wear my wedding ring and the reason I do is to stop any unwanted male attention. I hope that doesn't make me sound terribly big-headed but I've been chatted up in the gym on more than one occasion and it's a bit embarrassing for all concerned.

I do wear them (well technically just the one e-ring for now) to the gym because I usually go in the middle of the day and I'm too worried to take it off and leave it in my locker at the gym even with a lock. Honestly it doesn't bother me to have it on. It actually helps keep me motivated sometimes - I look at it and remember how I want to look for my wedding

I voted yes- I usu just do aerobics class, or some of the running/elliptical machines, so I just wear mine. I don't like to take it off at all, bc Iknow I'm going to lose it somewhere!! Might have to rethink this if I ever get a more delicate ring, like an eternity, or if I start lifting weights, in which case I might be more inclined to leave them in the car?! I always get so paranoid though!

If I'm going to a class (kick-boxing, step, aerobics, yoga etc) I leave them on. If I'm lifting weights, I take them off, so I don't know which one to pick. |

I do and I don't. Some days if I am stressed my hands swell and then it is painful to wear such a wide pave band while lifting. Other time if I have on thinner bands I cannot feel them either way. I imagine this will be more of an issue once I get engaged. However at the Rec center on campus girls deck out before they get there....and people wonder why I go to Golds...

I used to wear mine all the time for kboxing but then my big diamond kept coming loose so I thought maybe that the jarring against the bag (we hit the bags pretty hard and use gloves and everything) was working it loose, so I now take off my e-ring when I go, but leave my w-ring on. Having the rings on didn't bother me but I just got tired of taking it over to the jeweler to have them tighten the prongs!!

I don't wear mine to the gym b/c I tend to sweat a lot and it makes them very uncomfortable. I used to wear my 6mm plain white gold band but even that has been uncomfortable lately. So now I don't wear anything. I don't have to worry about anyone hitting on a 25 lb-overweight-haven't-lost-the-baby-weight-from-two-pregnancies-in-a-year-me.

I too am someone who wears my ring to the gym for motivation, but takes it off when doing weights (I usually put it on my necklace chain).

I don't wear my rings when I work out, except for a plain wedding band. I learned a long time ago to wear something on my left hand, because it never fails...if I don't one of two things always happens: 1. Some guy will hit on me, and it's usually either some real young guy or some real old guy...lol. or 2. I'll see someone I know and they will "assume" that my hubby and I are splitting up because I'm not wearing my rings, and rumors get started. I'm also very careful about wearing my jewelry when I swim, play sports, or ride my bike. I'll usually just wear just a wedding band then, too. I have specific jewelry for rambunctious activities. I can hardly stand not to wear a necklace of some sort, and most of my chains are pretty dainty. But I have one heavy gold rope chain that is about 15 inches that I wear a lot when I'm active, because it would be very difficult to break. I have a lot of nice dressy watches, but I have a couple of cheapo sporty watches I wear when I'm doing some sporting activity. Same thing with earrings. Just plain gold studs for working out and that kind of thing.

back in college, there was this horror story at the gym we played basketball in that a guy had his wedding ring on and somehow it got caught on one of the metal hinges that holds the net up for the basket and his finger was torn off... no confirmation and maybe it was urban legend, but it's still scary

On my honeymoon (I'll never forget this!), we were on an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica playing pool volleyball. This guy was serving the ball and with the serve over the net, also came this gold, shiny object over the net as well...Next we heard "ting...ting..ting" into the bushes his new wedding band (with diamonds!) went!! His new bride went crazy and jumped into the bushes trying to find his ring!!! They found it in the end, but it just supported my feelings of leaving my rings in the hotel safe during the daytime hours after that....

bopit...from what I know of the metals (which admittedly is not tons)...gold and platinum should both be 'soft' enough to bend under pressure and not tear a finger off...but something like titanium will be strong enough to do that very thing as it is not meant to bend under pressure. they use it in aircrafts! which is why greg doesn't wear his rings or anything when he works on the car or is around any machinery...too risky.

I laughed at the volleyball story above. This is a little off-topic, but my husband lost his wedding band on our honeymoon while snorkeling. We wondered if it was a bad omen but we're coming up on our tenth anniversary so I guess it was ok. He got a new, snugger band when we got back from our honeymoon and I don't think its been off him since...

momothree... That actually happened (snorkeling and loss of ring) to my associate. She lost her e-ring/w-band (it was one in the same) while snorkeling in Hawaii. While her new husband immediately bought her a new ring when they returned, she never felt the same about her ring...hopefully at their 10-year, she'll get an upgrade as she's always had a "sensitive spot" to her new ring and won't even talk about it (even when complimenting her on it!)....

Date: 4/22/2005 1:48:40 PM I know a guy this actually happened to. No urban legend. He was a strong junior golfer, on his way to going Pro, and it ruined his chances of being a professional golfer. Author: bopitaddict back in college, there was this horror story at the gym we played basketball in that a guy had his wedding ring on and somehow it got caught on one of the metal hinges that holds the net up for the basket and his finger was torn off... no confirmation and maybe it was urban legend, but it's still scary I take mine off when ever I'm doing something physically strenous becasue my fingers swell and they get uncomfortable. I also take them off when I'm around lots of hard metals (ie weights) so that they don't get banged up. I've distroyed more than one setting in my time.....
