My BF and I are going to New Orleans tomorrow for a few days to attend an award presentation for his father. We are staying on Canal Street. Does anyone have suggestions of places we should go?

If you have never been, the things you must try:

A Hurricane at Pat O'Briens

Beignets and cafe au lait (if you are not into coffee ok, but you must try beignets!) at the Cafe du Monde on the river....there are other cafe du mondes, but that one has the ambience.

Breakfast at Mother's, or lunch (roast beef sandwich with debris)

A carriage ride and a tour of the houses is also very fun!

Have a great time!

The Barbeque Shrimp at Mr. B's. The shrimp isn't barbequed, despite its name; they're huge heads-on prawns in an amazing sauce, with bread on the side to sop up and enjoy the sauce after the shrimp are gone...and don't even think of the calories! Just enjoy!

Also, brunch at Commander's Palace in the Garden District. And crawfish and oyster's at Acme.

I could go on and on. One thing to avoid: the scale when you get back home!
