Well not leaving me leaving me. Just temporarily. He wasnt looking, but his friend with connections helped him get a job in DC that will totally benefit his career and he is leaving me in 2 weeks to start! I'm staying here (ohio) until after our wedding. We've already planned so much of and paid for so much of our wedding here in October. I'd hate to lose our deposit money plus I dont want to put off our wedding any longer! It was also hard to plan a wedding here in this small town, I cant imagine "starting over" with the plans in another new huge city. And it would be pointless to move there and then come back 6 months later to get married when we wouldnt live here anymore! Plus now I have to get licensed in a new state and find a job which takes time. So it just makes sense for me to stay here until then.

Its going to be hard because he will need to come back a lot for our wedding preparations (Catholic wedding), engagement pics, etc., yet that will start to get costly and of course with his job there will be time constraints. While in the long run it will be good, these next 6 months will be such a bummer. I will have to register on my own, go to my bridal shower on my own, etc.

thanks for listening!

aw, g-flecken -- that would be so tough on me!!! congrats on his job though... i totally understand how you've invested so much time and energy on the wedding already, it would be so hard to have to change plans.... I'm sure you will find ways to do things online like registering, or do things together when he's around... this way, you will be much more efficient when he's around! or something like that..

hang in there.. just remember, in the end, you'll be together!!!

ohh. That is terrible! I would be so miserable.. My best friend just went through the same thing though.. For about a year and a half before their wedding, her Fiance  was anywhere from 3-5 hours away from her, and would only come home every few weekends. They didnt move back in together until about two weeks before the wedding!

The time will go by fast though.. you'll be busy and it will make your wedding day even happier!

That stinks! But as you said, this is a great career move for him, and I can tell you from experience that long distance can be really good for a relationship. Best of luck in planning without him! I know it'll be tough, but you will be stronger for it! We're here for you!!

g-flecken, I'm sooo sorry. I was relieved to read your post, though, after reading the title...I had a sick feeling that he left you for good

This is going to be tough, but you'll do it, and you have all of us for moral support!

Hang in there, dear!

Whew! You scared me for a moment! I am sorryt hat he is moving away, I know that must be upsetting. Hopefully, you will be so busy with getting re-licensed, preparing for wedding, getting ready to move, etc. that the next 6 months will fly right by.

If he is going to fly home (and with the cost of gas lately it might be around the same price) make sure he signs up for frequent flyer miles. That way, he can earn perhaps a free trip to see you, or at least earn some miles that can be used in the future for something fun.

Hang in there, and feel free to vent at will!

Sorry to hear that, glaucomflecken.  Hopefully, with all there is to do, the time will fly by.  Congrats to your FI on the job and good luck with the planning.

OOOH I guess I should have worded my subject title better! Thanks for the support! I am really excited for us and the prospect of starting a new life together in a new city with new jobs. I do hope time goes by fast...after all it seems like yesterday I said "wow honey 15 months until our wedding!" and now its 6 months from today! (this icon reminds me of tweak on south park)

He really hasnt been much help with the wedding plans anyway but he will be so much less stressed at this job. His job here, he was working 70 hrs a week and never had time to help me with the plans.

you girls are the best!!!

I am sorry that you will have to be away from your man for the next six months...though on an upnote he wont see you in full out Bridezilla mode! And you can spend oddles of time with your girlfriends arguing over thigns he doesnt care about or watchign tons of chick flicks. It is hard to be away from your other half (I am in AL mine is in NY) but there are upsides and I try to focus on that and it does help. Also this is a great time for goofy cards and sweet ntoes to be passed back and forth. I know it isnt not nearly as good but if you try to focus on the positives the time passes much quicker.

Sorry to hear he has to be away for now.  But the new job will be good for his career or else he wouldn't have taken it.

Where are you at in Ohio?  I'm in Ohio too.
