What exactly does Hollow-hem mean? I'm 5'2, what length should I be? where do I start measuring from? Also does anyone know if dresses with lace hems are be shortened?

care bear- i think hollow-hem means from the small of your back down to the bottom of your shoes (or wherever you want the dress to fall) (could be wrong though!) this is usually the length, at least. but most wedding gowns come w/unfinished hems and are altered shorter once you get it. lace hems can be shortened. if there is a finish at the bottom, what they do is take it up at the waist seam, and narrow the skirt a bit. hope that helps!

Flopkins, I am thinking of getting a Casablanca dress as well. do you know how their sizing works? Does their dress size correspond to regular sizes? How long should dresses be worn in the front? should it touch the ground?

carebear- i just found this off the bridesave.com website : measurements i was wrong, hollow-hem is from the hollow below the throat/neck to the hem. bridesave.com also has sizing for casablanca here (scroll to the bottom for the chart. how long the dress is in front is personal preference. I want mine to be just above the ground, so it's not dragging. i think this is called "sweep"... i swear buying gowns is like learning a whole new language! good luck and let me know how it goes... which casablanca are you looking at?

the dress is beautiful!! of course, i'm partial, bc the casablanca dress I'm considering is almost exactly the same, except it has a drop waist band... see this thread for pics. bridesave.com has an extra 10% off if you order by end of april too! oh boy! [$$)] that's awesome that casablanca will make it your length! i think i'm liking them more and more! then i don't haveto worry about hemming at all! have a friend/mom measure you with a tape- you can buy one at any drug store in teh sewing kit section. and wear your shoes if you have em, or something in a similar height. keep me updated!

Are you getting White or Ivory? All the pictures I see online are all ivory. Not sure which looks better.

actually, I will get the blush (pinkish) color... I haven't seen it in any other colors though, so I'm sorry I can't help with the white v ivory!
