Sigh...

I got my Facets princess eternity band today.  While it's pretty, I don't "love" it.  I think it makes my fingers look too fat.  I'm not used to wearing an eternity band either, so I keep fiddling with it.  I really didn't have buyers remorse when I ordered it, but now that I have it I keep thinking I should have gotten a wedding set.

I feel as though I kind of let my family talk me into getting the eternity band.  Everytime I mentioned the wedding set my mom (who bought me the band as a rememberance of my grandparents) would always go on and on about the symbolism of the eternity band.  When I told my aunt (my mom's sister) that I picked the eternity band she said "We knew you would make the right decision!", as if I had chosen the wedding set would be the "wrong" decision.

Here's the pics anyway.  I'm not sure what to do.

Sorry to be such a pain in the arse.

Sorry the pics aren't the best.  I took them while my 2 year old and 1 year old were running around in the yard.  Here's another.

Signed pieces has a full 30 day money back guarantee.  I think it's lovely, why not take some time to see if you get used to it.  If you still don't like it return it.  Maybe you would be more comfortable with a half eternity band ring??

I should add that I have no problems with the quality of the ring.  It is 1.61ct and has 29 princess diamonds so each one is about 5 points.  It's weird that I expected 5 point diamonds to look bigger.  I tried on a very similar eternity band at my local jeweler that was slightly over 1ct and it looks identical to this one.  The Facets band is 2.7mm wide.  I think the channel setting makes my finger look fat (although I am PMS bloated).

I'm glad I have 30 days to decide if I want to keep it.  I think I really like the look of the shared prong bands better but I thought the channel set would be more practical (not that eternity bands are practical).  My diamond band is shared prong rounds and I like the look of it better.

Hi Jellybean,

I'm so sorry you don't 'love' your band, I think princess eternities are beautiful myself. I personally like shared-prongs for eternities though, maybe you could exchange it for a different style? Maybe even go for a half-eternity with larger stones? I'm sorry I'm playing devil's advocate. I'm just like you, I'm always second-guessing my jewelry purchases.

IMO, if you are going to spend $$$ on diamonds and platinum, you have to get something that you LOVE! that being said, no one can make you LOVE a ring, so look up the trade-in/return policy and make the best of it! Good Luck, and let us know how it turns out.

I'm sorry that you're not thrilled by your eternity band. I love them, but I prefer them prong set or bar set. I don't like the channel set ones so much - they look elegant in the box but on my hand always look a bit plain.

What was the wedding set that you mentioned like? Do you mean a wedding band? Out of interest, what were you intending to wear with the eternity band? Your e-ring or were you just going to wear it as a stand alone?

Ignore the advice of your family - if you aren't happy with it, get what makes you happy, not them.

Bagpuss -- I did look at a wedding set that I really liked.  It was a shared prong set with round diamonds, similar to Mara's.  The wedding set did not have diamonds all the way around, just a little over half but when you looked down on my finger it did look like an eternity band.

I wanted this band to be my "everyday" ring.  I have two little ones like I mentioned so I don't wear my 1.5ct solitaire very often around them.  Until I got this band my "everyday" set was my 5 round diamond shared prong band (15 point diamonds for a total ctwt of .75ct) with either the 1.5ct or my 0.38ct solitaire.

I didn't take a picture of the 1.5ct with the eternity band but it doesn't look right.  The 1.5ct solitaire band is a lot wider than the eternity band so it over powers it.  I have a 1.25ct sim in a 6 prong tiffany type band that looks much better with it; thus I was thinking about having the 1.5ct reset in a 4 prong tiffany setting.

The 0.38ct is at Whiteflash as we speak.  They are going to try to put the 0.55ct round I just bought into it!

This stinks!  I thought I was going to love it when I opened the box.

okay...so i may be just a *little* bias in liking your eternity ring so much it looks like one of mine! (only yours is bigger and sparklier!!
it is perfectly normal to feel some buyers remorse (i ALWAYS do!) but, i agree with kaleigh....give it some time, if you still decide you don't love it, send it back.  you need to be happy.  happy is good

Besides giving a full  30 day refund they also have a great upgrade policy.  I have bought a shared prong diamond eternity band and a pair of diamond studs.  They are very nice to work with, I personally like Isaac, but they are all great.  Good luck and let us know what you decide!!

Here's a couple of more quick pics I took while my chicken is defrosting and my kiddies are still sleeping.

I think what I don't like about it is wearing it by itself.  It looks naked.

Here's my sim with it to get an idea of the thinner solitaire band.

Here's the 1.5ct in the contour setting.  Hmmm....maybe it doesn't overpower it after all.  What do you all think?

To me I think you picked a winner.  It doesn't over power your ering at all, actually compliments it.  Just my 0.2!!

Well, it sounds like you already have a perfectly lovely half eternity style ring so a full eternity band is a good addition. It just sounds like the channel set style isn't your thing. How about a shared prong ring with round stones? You could definitely wear this style on its own and not feel it was too understated.

Here's my 2.8 tcw shared prong eternity band (sim, sadly) with my 0.84 solitaire ring.
Do you like the look of this style?

One more pic of the 1.5ct with it.

Actually, I think they look really good together! They fit like a glove.

I really like it with the contour band! I don't think the ring is overpowered at all. Looks great!

Jellybean,
I agree that the band looks a little naked without an e-ring, but it looks fabulous with one! That was my main concern when deciding what size band to wear with a e-ring, but also big enough to stand on it's own. If you check on a recent post of mine, you'll see that I decided that the stones should be .10+ for me to wear on my big hands, otherwise of smaller than .10 each, I'd wear it with my e-ring.

I feel your pain.  I just bought a 1/2 eternity bar-set band and didn't like it after waiting 4 weeks for it to arrive.  I also thought my fingers looked fat when wearing it alone, however it looks great with my e-ring.  I thought about returning it and getting a Facets Raphael 1/2 eternity shared-prong band, but the .05 stones would be larger than the .03s in my e-ring.  The band I have now had 14 three-pointers so it matches my e-ring exactly.  I wore mine for the first day and got so many compliments here and in person that I decided to keep it.

I think yours looks great with your contour band e-ring.  Wear the eternity for a few days and see what you think then.  If you only plan to wear it alone then you might be happier getting something else...but I think it looks good with your e-ring.

I so agree. What looks lovely with an e-ring, doesn't always look so hot on its own. I think I worked out that the individual stones in my sim eternity ring were about 9 or 10 points and it does look great on its own. If I was buying a real one though, I'd probably go just a little smaller, about 2cttw so that I could still wear it alone but also so it wouldn't overpower my e-ring and I could wear a wedding band, ering and eternity ring all together, if the mood took me! I can't manage that with the 2.7ct ring - my fingers just aren't long enough (sigh)
