First off, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this forum. I have learned a great deal and made my diamond purchase that much smoother. I have been looking around for a setting but the jeweller that I bought my diamond from insists on having a 19k white gold head or 'claws'. I am set on having 4 prong tiffany style 19k WG with platinum for the head. He said 19k WG with palladium is a better choice for the prongs than platinum. Both he and the jeweller designer agree that is a better choice to use 19k WG on the prongs. They said they can do platinum but their advise is to use 19k. Is 19k better than platinum on the prongs? They specialise in both platinum and 19k WG so it is not the case where they may not have the expertise to do plat. Is it harder to cast both materials together in a setting? More work for them? Thanks. I just bought a Round Brilliant, D, VS1, 0.71, ideal cut. |
