I have a 3 carat pear shaped diamond ring that was my mothers. What would be the value of this diamond. It has no flaws, I do know that much. I had the ring sized when I received the ring. Thanks,

Did the ring or stone come with an appraisal? If not, I would get the ring appraised by an independent appraiser. There is no way to tell how much the ring/diamond would be worth without one. It should tell you the diamond weight (approximate if in the setting, actual if the diamond is loose) color, clarity, and dimensions of the stone, which would also help you find out how "good" the cut is, although fancy shapes do have somewhat looser guidelines. Edit: you should also ask the appraiser for a realistic replacement value...some appraisers tend to inflate the price...for much more than you would realistically be able to sell the piece. And for purely selfish reasons...do you have any pictures you can share?? ![]()

I tend to believe that the sentiment attached to such an item adds great value, albeit only to you..... ______________________ "Live Free Or Die Death Is Not The Worst of Evils." - General John Stark, a distinguished hero of the Revolutionary War ![]() |
