I'll be proposing in a little over a week and I already know that the ring is probably too big. I'd rather wait to have it sized after I give it to her to avoid guessing and having it done wrong. I'm assuming she's going to want to wear the ring right away since we'll be around friends and family, but I want to make sure it doesn't fall off. Does anyone know of a temporary fix that will last the weekend? I recall hearing about plastic strips that can adhere to the inside of the ring. Do these exist and can they be bought at a drug store or somewhere convenient? I appreciate the help. Thanks. |

In a similar situation, I actually wrapped thread around and around the base of the ring to the point it formed a little ball. That worked for me!

Jewelry stores sell metal or plastic "Ring Guards". These can adjust the size temporarily without huiting anything although the metal ones will scratch up the ring near the bottom sometimes. Plastic ones sound like the better choice, but they are harder to find. You can aloways use the old band-aid method. Not pretty, but it works.

Thanks for the feedback....I'll be sure to bring plenty of band-aids and yarn with me.

Go to your local mall to the Claires store where they sell inexpensive costume jewelry. They sell little clear plastic tube looking things called Ring Snugglies that you slip over your band where it faces your palm to make the ring more snug (of course). One bag has about 4 or 5 in in assorted sizes for different levels of tightness that you need. They sell for like $3.99 or so. They work great!
