So, I found this ring and I really like it. I am in the market for a diamond e-ring, and I keep going back to this ring. I need you guys to pick it apart for me. This is the description straight from the FC website: This antique Art Deco style European-cut diamond engagement ring weighs 2.6g and measures 10.5mm wide x 5mm deep. Centrally bezel-set in this platinum ring is 0.74ct European-cut diamond graded H color and SI2 clarity, accentuated in a stylized floral motif with 0.32cts of bead-set European-cut diamonds graded I color and VS clarity. This Art Deco style engagement ring is detailed with finely mille grained edges. Asking price is $3100.00. So....What do you think? What do you think about the specs? Is this a fair price?

I think it's lovely, but I'd make sure the SI2 is eye-clean before committing.

Sure I like it! dainty, classic, nicely made... looks great on hand too.In that picture the diamond looks clean enough - at least no black inclusions show. Given the SI2 grade, I suspect some inclusions might become visible upon close inspection, but that can't be known without seeing the piece up close. The bezel setting can do allot to hide some imperfections - which is a good thing, I guess. Perhaps this is clear from the official presentation, perhaps not: the ring is new (they say "Deco style" instead of "original XYZ" - it shows too). Actually, I suspect you could have any diamond of your choice set in this kind of ring by Fay - they might require that you purchase a diamond from them (now that a list of up) or not. If the choice is tempting, you might want to ask. Not that there is any complaint about that stone: all I can see is a nicely symmetrical round brilliant (which is not to be taken for granted among old stones) without any glaring flaw. It would be nice to know something about light return and perhaps have a lab report, but neither is common practice for pre-set rings. What you see is what you get, I suppose. Now, let's say this is H/SI2 and OEC. You might want to search for a price ballpark using the list of round brilliants on top of this page. As far as I could find, the price of the ring looks reasonable - given the intricate setting that needs to be taylored to the stone (like all thin bezels do, really - it isn't likely to find such an exact fitting piece "empty" off the rack)... BTW. One of the small diamonds on the circle surrounding the centre stone seems to be damaged or something (see the dark spot around 3 o'clock). These little stones are usually easy to replace, and that spot could be a photographic fluke as well. Hope some of the 0.2 worth helps. The ring is very beautiful, IMO

Thank you both for your comments! I noticed it said Deco style and I began to investigate the FC website. IF I am going to go with an antique ring, then I want it to be authentic. So, I'm not so sure this is the one for me. Back to the beginning... This helps me with a big decision. I think I will go back to plan A. I will go with the Square HA! A new diamond and I can put it into my own setting. This way, I know what I am getting.

If you do like that style, I know this one can be made on order for you. The stone is a cushion... so another cushion (H&A, if you soo choose) could be set in it too. ![]()

I think this is a good idea. . .![]() The fay cullen ring is gorgeous. I love the design, but I don't like her return policy and if you don't like the ring, you're actually stuck paying a restocking fee! It makes more sense to purchase a nice certified diamond that is well cut and have it set into a ring you've picked out.

While I understand, it certainly did not win any brownie points with me.
