Dilema, which ring do you like the best...

[1] This antique, one of a kind 1.5 G-H hexagonal ring. This pic makes it look cloudy but it isnt.  http://img207.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img207&image=stephenrussell8wy.png

[2] Modern Cushion cut with micropave boxter setting. http://img207.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img207&image=bling28qt.jpg

[3] Take the setting of ring #1 and put a 2 carat royal asscher in the centre instread of that hexagonal stone. http://img202.exs.cx/img202/8011/royalasscher7xc.jpg

[4] This ebay ring, which looks too goo to be true, from what I know about diamonds. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=92906&item=4979103739&rd=1

First off, #4 is probably too good to be true--do a search here on MDCDiamonds...

The first setting is very unique, esp. with a hexagonal stone, but I'd be concerned with growing tired of such a different shaped stone. #2 is a classic and very beautiful.  Besides the setting, what shape/type of look do you prefer? A cushion and an asscher-like cut are different in terms of how the diamond plays with light, at least to me. Does one appeal to you more?

I like #4...but it is from Ebay, so be careful.  After that, I like #2.

In terms of style, I vote for the boxter, #2.  I have seen a picture of an asscher in a magazine in a setting similar to #1 as you have described.  It would have a completely different look than #2 in terms of sparkle, etc, but it was very beautiful.

In terms of style  I like #4 the best although I would never buy a diamond from e-bay.

For some reason I do not like #4 with the trapezoids on the sides and I would not buy from ebay on that one.

Have you seen #1 in person?  I just don't think you will get the sparkle out of that one.

As far as #3 the stone looks pretty, but you need to see it in person.  If you set that stone like the setting in #1, then you will have a VERY antiques looking setting IMO.  I don't know how much sparkle you will get out of it..  Again, you really have to see all the components in person.

My fav is #2.  It has the an antique look to it, but the modern Cushion cut center gives it a very sparkly more up to date look.

Bottom line, you really to need see them in person to see which one strikes you as gorgeous!

Good luck!

I LOVE #2!! Where is that from???

And I agree with above posters regarding Ebay...I can see buying a setting there, but the actual 3 carat diamond would make me really uneasy!

#2 is my favorite of the bunch...however is she a trendy person or more traditional? The ring strikes me as tredny and bridal magazines now have said that pave is "in" at the moment. Also how hard is she on her jewlery? I liked pave rings but have decided against them since they have stones pop out....no fun there. #4 is also quite lovely but I would take the picture to a local jeweler and have them custom make it or check out whiteflash. Ebay doesnt have a great record with purchases this large. I also think #4 has a more classic style and would be less likely to date the ring...though I do love pave soo shiney!

Also, for ring #1, I know some of you much have the wedding 2005 town & country. that ring is featured...and there is a much much better pic in that mag. i just love that setting! so different. If anyone has a scanner, please post that page of amazing rings from that issue of T&C
