First of all, thanks a ton to the following people (they all know why):

Jonathan
Wink
Paul
and all the people at Whiteflash (especially Denise ).

Well, I received my Asscher today (see the link).
I asked Paul to have a look at it and he said:
"For me, this diamond is a J, not a K..."
Always nice to hear that !

The Asscher is breathtaking.
True. Not only the light return that makes it so bright, but also the fire with simple office lights.

Then Paul showed me 6 Princesses that just came back from AGS, for the new grading.
Wow. I must say that before that, I hated Princesses.
But now it's something else.
The IdealScope pattern of each one was different but always virtually perfect and symmetric.
And yes, these diamonds were full of life, not as Princesses I saw on the market.
Paul cut 6 Princesses following AGS's guidelines, but only 2 came out as AGS0, the others were AGS1.
For a first time, that's a nice score; funny to listen at Paul who says he's happy that AGS is so strict.
But I can understand why.

Now the most funny thing:
I prefered 3 diamonds : two AGS0 and one AGS1.
BUT the nicest one to my eyes was... the AGS1.

Then Paul showed me some round diamonds, and I know Paul's rounds.
Always perfect.
He even has some L-M-N colors.
And then it happens.
Oh my god.
You can laugh at me if you want, but...
Paul has 2 similar diamonds:
1.24ct M-VVS (1 or 2)
1.26ct N-VVS1
Don't ask me why, but the 1.26 was incredible.
The 2 were AGS0 with perfect H&A and IdealScope, but even my friend who doesn't know diamonds picked it out without the loupe.
I wanted to buy it, but Paul gave me the advice to wait.
My only concern is that I don't know where to put it.
Earring?
If you meet Paul, take a look at this N next to the M and try to explain me why and if you prefer the N too. It was screaming "buy me! buy me!"
Oh, and take a look at what I call a "new generation" of princesses.

Next step for my new step cut baby:
The Jeweler

- Hi, Mr XXX, how are you doing?
- Fine thanks and you?
- ...
- ...
- Here is my new diamond.
- Oh, that's a nice J, Mr XXX!
- Sorry, that's a K!
- Oh, really?
- Take a look at the certificate...
- I think you did a great bargain, Mr XXX. This Asscher is one of the best I saw.

END PART I

Stephan

Hi Stephan,

As always, it was very nice having you with us. The thing is that working with people, who understand what we are trying to accomplish, always is enjoyable.

As for the first princess-cuts that went through AGS, I am trying to put together an article for the Pricescope Journal, and if all goes well, I can have it ready by Monday.

You may now proudly carry the title of being the first consumer ever of seeing Ideal-cut Princess-cuts.

Live long,

Sounds fantastic!  Can't wait to hear more about the "N" beauty--sounds very intriguing--and also see some of these AGS Princess cuts!

So interesting! I very much enjoy reading about consumers' interactions with the experts. Can't wait for part 2!

You are seeing these even before the dealers!  We have been clammoring after Paul to get us some to sell here in the States.

I have seen the pictures, now I want to see the real deal!

2 nights that I have the same dream!
I dream that I'm choosing a setting for the 1.26ct N-VVS1...
The day after I went to Paul, I called my friend who went with me (she's also my boss).
She told me that after such a beautiful day, a normal person would dream about owning such a beautiful diamond, but she dreamt she was cutting diamonds...

Stephan I think the N would be a fabulous big pirate earring!!

The setting for the K sounds amazing, I can't wait to see the finished product. Congrats and enjoy that beautiful beautiful Asscher!

Thank you Mara!
I hope the setting will be great, even it won't have prongs.
It will be a half bezel.
For the earring, I don't have any hole and it wouldn't be that great at work...

Stephan, what a great experience.  Thanks for telling us about it.

Hi John,

It was also a pleasure to serve as 'independent appraiser' on this. I must say that you sold Stephan a fantastic Asscher.
