Would you feel comfortable buying an I color H&A stone?

Can you post pics?  Do they face up white?  Hints of color?

If you go to "Show me the Ring", you should come across many of them

I wouldn't but I'm sensitive to color.  Not for a ring anyway, although for earrings I think it would be fine.

But isn't your stone an H?  Is there really that much of a difference?

Absolutely, no doubt!  A true "I" is white, and "most people" wouldn't see the difference between a true "H" or "I".

The stone on the left is the I.  The one with the sapphires is a G.  Unset, I could tell a difference.  Once set, face up they are similar, but from the side, I can see a bit of color in the I.

I realize that you can't tell much in this photo...

Kinger,
Yes, my stone is an H, I found that between an H and G i couldn't tell the difference, but between H and I, I could pretty easily, so for me H was the lowest I could go.  Again, i think it entirely depends on one's color sensitivity.

I agree that it depends on color sensitivity. Go look at a bunch of them in various color grades before deciding.

I'm a little more color sensitive so I wouldn't get it for a ring. For an earing, sure.

I'd definetly get I color earrings if I was on a budget.  For a ring, I'd sacrifice size to get a colorless stone.

Everyone is different and I agree you need to do some comparing to see how you feel about the different color grades.  It seems that all the I color diamond owners here are happy with their purchase.

in the FAQ section there is a link to I colored stone pictures and also I started a J color in platinum thread as well.

many well-cut H&A diamonds face up very bright and white in these pictures.

I just went from an H to a J stone last week and I ADORE my new stone. Sometimes from the side I do see a tiny tiny bit of warm tint but the rest of the time it is so fabulous...I just adore it.

I just bought one from whiteflash! If you search for my previous threads, you'll see the pics. I have had it for a couple of weeks. The only time I have noticed the color was when a jeweler held the stone near a higher color stone. I assume the stone is AGS. If so, I was told that they are often conservative on color. Martin Haske used his SAS2000 machine to measure the color on mine. It was fascinating. He said it was borderline H. He said the key is whether it is borderline H or borderline J. Even J looks great! Mara started a post about J color stones in Platinum that was a huge help for me. I was litterally facing this same dillemma and I have no regrets. I see it as a smart way to save money and focused on the cut (as you seem to be doing). I am curious now... Do you have details on the stone?

my wife has 2 solitaire rings(both ideal H&A cuts),one is a AGS I color the other one is a GIA H color.top view under certain lights i can see the difference maybe because the H color stone is a high end H,more closer to a G ? from the side view it's easier, IF both rings are sparkling clean.

it is always harder to find a "mind clean" stone than a eye clean stone.
