Hi everyone. I'm searching for an princess cut diamond for an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I found one through USA Cert through a Pricescope search. Here are the stats. 1.01 ct. princess GIS cert F color VS2 Depth 70.1% Table 70% m-stk no culet vg sym excl polish no flour. crown height of 10.4% I am very new to the world of diamonds, but through my limited research on pricescope and elsewhere, the stats on this diamond seem to be pretty good. I am going to arrange to have it shipped to an appraiser in my area and then go from there. I'm going to try to find a setting locally. Any thoughts on the diamond or other things to watch out for? Thanks! |

I'd be afraid to answer your question (not an expert) but you said you were looking for an emerald cut and these specs state they are for a princess cut.

IS "GIS" typo for "GIA" ? The numbers sound fine - reason enough (IMO) to call the stone in and take a look. It would be nice to know if the tempting specs also deliver the top brilliance they promise this far. Any chance to obtain Ideal-Scope photo or any other standard evidence of brilliance ? If not (common, since not many sellers select fancies for optics)... there isn't much to talk about, as far as I know - just size (diameter) for weight and price. I'm n ot a princess cut expert, so can't comment specifically on the stone. You can look up cut info on fancy stones at www.gemappraisers.com under the fancy shape selector link. I have purchased from USA Cert, and they were very good to work with. Martin is knowledgable and honest. However, I don't think they see any of these stones. They just work with the manufacturer to get the information and, drop ship them to you or a local appraiser. They are knowledgable about diamonds, being gemologists, so they can give you a lot of info and help, but I don't think they usually have seen the stones. Thus, it is important to find a good appraiser to have it sent to. If you can't find one locally, I would suggest one of the active ones here -- they are top notch. Using their experienced eyes, even if you don't get to see it initially, can be a good way to go.
