My diamond will be shipped soon. Should I go for the EGL cert? GIA is a bit backed up and could take 4 weeks to be done. I need to make a decision fast!

Thanks

EGL has spent a lot of time and money becoming very smart about fancy colored diamonds.  I see no reason not to use EGL for this sort of grading.  They do all the correct testing for natural origin, so I don't see a big benefit to waiting weeks for GIA to do a very similar job.

Correction Dave - I agree and believe EGL USA (and IGI) have excellent equipment in all their labs to detect HPHT and synthetic origin.

I am not aware that other EGL labs outside USA and Canada have Ramon laser equipment and Spectrographs and Infra Red analysis equipment that is needed these days to sort out treatments and synthetics.

David,
Are you able to tell if a diamond is synthethic or has been treated?

Hi Sunni:

May I ask where you are purchasing your stone from? If its from a known vendor, then I would not worry about not receiving an authentic stone. The only vendor I know is DBL that carries a lot of yellow stones. David is reputable and I would not worry about the authenticity from him.

Can't wait to see the photos of your new stone!

Best,

It's from Diamonds By Lauren. Have you purchased from DBL? What have you heard about them?

Hi Christine,

Dave made a custom five stone ring for me back in November.  It has three SI1/FLY diamonds, and two VS1/D white diamonds, all princess cut.  It is a common prong setting in platinum (.93).

My experience with DBL and Dave was AWESOME!    My only complaint is that I want a bigger ring!  My next purchase will certainly be a BIGGER diamond and will be a FY.

Nice ring!! I'm like you though, I want a big ring! I'm saving up for it though, don't want to charge anything.

Your ring is beautiful!
The three yellow, 2 white is very unique. You probably won't see other people with the same band. I can't wait to post pics of my new ring! I get it early next week.
