Girls!

I bought my now fiancé a 1.9 carat round stone, with absolutely awesome specs.  I loved this diamond when I purchased it.  But after hearing everyone continuously rave over it, I’m worried that it may be too big for our lifestyles.  In fact, I’ve even lied about the size to avoid embarrassment.  We are by no means rich – I just found a great diamond at a great price.  My fiancé says she loves loves loves the ring, but I’m worried that it may be too flashy for our conservative personalities.

Attached is a picture.  My goal was to get something bigger than average, but not too showy.  Do you think I succeeded or exceeded?

I think you succeeded if your fiance loves the ring. It looks like a beauty and the setting is not too elaborate so I don't think it is flashy.

You didn't buy the ring for anyone but your fiancee, and I say if she is happy with it, who cares what other people think? There is nothing wrong with having nice things for yourself that you like to look at. It's a shame we're kinda conditioned that self-indulgence is evil. It's quite healthy (in moderation!).

well it looks pretty darn huge there!! But then again the picture is huge too.

it looks rather normal to me in the picture...but maybe we need a face down to really see what it looks like on the finger.

seriously though,  if you both love it, who cares what others think? really!

it is beautiful, and you should definitely not worry about what other people think...as long as you are happy!

As long as the two of YOU love it that's all that matters.  Who cares what anyone else thinks.  Don't do anything to it because you feel it will make everyone else happy.  It's her finger!  Not theirs!

  It's beautiful!!
