I  pink sapphires and I recently received one for Christmas. I've seen some on PS but not a lot. Please post all your pink sapphire babies! Once by camera is back to working I'll post mine.

Here is Sweet Pink's beautiful 1 carate, white gold ring.

Thanks!

Sorry havent got any pink sapphires but there was an interesting article in todays Sunday Herald newspaper (in Aust) about Kerry Packer marketing pink sapphires with Collette Dinnigan.  Pretty ironic because all the stock market annoucnements for the last few years from the mining company concerned has been about finding rubies on Packer's land but now they say they will be marketing them as pink sapphires - guess they weren't rubies after all.

Click here for the story - no pictures sorry.

cheers

Probably Spinel in corundum... If you pay attention to the second picture, you will see that the inclusion looks squared. I will check to see if it's an octaedron...

Spinel (MgAl2O3) will grow until there is no more Mg in the fluid.
Then Sapphire or Ruby (Al2O4) will continue to overgrow from that seed.

You can see enlarged picture here: Red Dot in Pink Sapphire Crystal (Mogok, Burma)
Around 3 ct, it would have been a great crystal if it was a little bit bigger

Does anyone know if and how much of a price difference there is now with the whole "pink sapphires" marketing push as opposed to before? I mean, could I have bought a pink ruby for 1/4 of the price they'd be selling it for now?

Ymanda, love that picture!

Here's a round, I think it's about 1.3.  The dark part on the bottom is a shadow bc I had a light right over the camera.

I want to have it reset into a ring so I can look at it, but haven't had the chance.
