lonewoodminer Cut Rock Total Posts: 141 Last Post: 6/18/2005 Member Since: 1/6/2005	Sorry havent got any pink sapphires but there was an interesting article in todays Sunday Herald newspaper (in Aust) about Kerry Packer marketing pink sapphires with Collette Dinnigan. Pretty ironic because all the stock market annoucnements for the last few years from the mining company concerned has been about finding rubies on Packer's land but now they say they will be marketing them as pink sapphires - guess they weren't rubies after all. If you pay attention to the second picture, you will see that the inclusion looks squared. I will check to see if it's an octaedron... Spinel (MgAl2O3) will grow until there is no more Mg in the fluid. Then Sapphire or Ruby (Al2O4) will continue to overgrow from that seed.
