These are all from the same seller by the way! I especially like the setting on this one.. how the prongs are just a littttttle bit off centered..

Well, it's almost 1 ct for ~$500.  It's cloudy (really cloudy), but I assume it's a real diamond (or lets hope).  A lot cheaper than the thousands I paid ;)    (Mine looks a lot nicer, of course!)

Maybe you could put it in a pendant and wear it under your clothes?  That way you could have the novelty of wearing a big diamond, but nobody could see how ugly it was?

On that thought, how much would you pay for a big, ugly diamond as a novelty?  $100, or $50 maybe?  You could give it to a kid as a novelty gift?

Does this not demonstrate how effective the DeBeers marketing stratagy is ...

Remember, a natural diamond has value and a synthetic one does not...

Diamonds last forever, and are a girls best freinds (they did not say womans best freind for those interested in the meaning of words).

Ect, ect, ect.

This is what happens when you create a market from nothing for a not so rare semiprecious stone.

Diamonds have value, and size counts.  That is all most people know - and it is what DeBeers and lots of jewelers want.  They are really not interested in telling people that many facets of diamond quality really matters - otherwise they would not be able to sell most of the diamonds they have.

May I salute this example of success of the Debeers cartel.

A friend of mine wanted to buy these for his wife over Christmas. I talked him out of them:

"Genuine 1/2 Carat Diamond Stud Earrings in 14K White Gold boast an understated elegance that will please for years to come. The I-J color and I2 to I3 clarity of these .50 total carat weight diamonds are offset by 14K white gold Tiffany settings to showcase the diamonds' brilliance. These gorgeous earrings stay securely fastened with push-on, screw-off posts and clutches."

I told him it looked like someone spilled the pepper shaker in there.

Eeew!!!  I'd rather have a really nice CZ than something that looks like that!  My dog wouldn't even want those.

$100 is too much to spend on a diamond that looks like ANY of these...even for educational or laughing value!
