Hi, I purschased a 2.1 carat diamond and looking to set it in a platinum classic tiffany style setting. I found someone in NY who set the diamond for $850. Is this expensive?

Socks, If this is just the charge for setting the stone, yes it's pretty expensive. If it includes the mounting it will depend on the details of the mounting that you selected. There are quite a few manufactures of rings that broadly fit that description and the prices vary considerably.
