CBane Rough Rock Total Posts: 3 Last Post: 2/10/2005 Member Since: 2/9/2005	I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH FOR A DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING FOR MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE (HOPEFULLY) TO BE. SHE LOVED THE LUCIDA STONE AND SETTING AT TIFFANY. I, AS HAVE MANY IN THIS FORUM, FOUND A BETTER ALTERNATIVE IN THE LUCERE STONE AND VATACHE X-PRONG SETTING. BETTER BECAUSE IT IS LESS EXPENSIVE AND IT APPEARS TO PERFORM BETTER UNDER A SCOPE. I HAVE ALSO DONE A TON OF RESEARCH ON DIAMONDS IN GENERAL AND HAVE A FULL UNDERSTANDING OF CUT TYPE, CLARITY, COLOR, CARET. MY QUESTION IS IN REGARDS TO CUT QUALITY AND WEATHER OR NOT I AM BEING SOLD ON SOMETHING. FIRST OFF MY KNOWLEDGE OF PORPORTIONS AS IT RELATES TO BRILLANCE AND SCINTILATION IS POOR AT BEST AND DUE TO JONATHANS DESCRIPTION FROM GOOD OLD GOLD I PLACE A HEAVY VALUE ON CUT QUALITY. I KNOW IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE. I AM BEING TOLD THAT ALL LUCERE DIAMONDS ARE BY DEFINITION AN IDEAL CUT DIAMOND SO THERE IS NO SENSE EVEN WORRYING ABOUT CUT QUALITY. THAT THEY WILL ALL BE THE SAME. YET WHILE READING AROUND THE NET MANY GEMOLIGIST HAVE ASKED FOR THE CUT QUALITY OF A LUCERE WHEN GIVEN THE COLOR, CLARITY, AND CARET IN ORDER TO APPRAISE THE STONE. I THINK YOU CAN SEE WHY I AM CONFUSED. CAN CUT QUALITY VARY ON A LUCERE????? IF SO CAN IT VARY ENOUGH TO EFFECT ITS FIRE/BRILLANCE/SCINTILATION?????? SORRY FOR THE LONG TEXT
