http://maps.google.com/maps - very nicely done

Pans smoothly and zooms with ease. Other features: directions, business locator, and zero ads (for the time being, at least).

It does not suck at all.

Nice! Simple and fast.

I'd like the ability to toggle back and forth between a map and an aerial/satellite with that set-up.

Google has the Keyhole system for aerials now, but it requires download/registration and eventually a fee. (I enjoy terraserver, at least what's free, but it's very clunky).

Go to Google Maps. Select an address. (optionally, get it plot directions to another address). Click on "Satellite" (in the right-top corner)!!!

Boy, that jump back and forth to the aerial photo is just what I'd asked for. I have already spent a bunch of time browsing the country. A very neat tool.

Now if they could add the option to draw a bounding box to zoom in....

What else?

What about an autoscroll that would pan itself smoothly along a given route?

I'd also love to see it tied into historical aerials. And option to do topograpical and other versions of the graphic map in addition to the simple street map (Sanborns?). But still, I've spent a lot of time fooling with mapping, and the google set-up is far and way the best.
