Hi - How much would .15 MM difference make in appearance? I have selected a 2.02 carat diamond for my girlfriend. The table 56% and depth is 63.3 %. The diameter is approx. 7.79mm-7.96mm. I have read online that the approx. diameter for a 2 carat is 8.10mm. Should I care? Does it make a big difference? Thanks! j

A well cut 2ct RB should be about 8.2mm in diameter. The 63.3 depth % is slightly on the deep side. What I would be more worried about is the 7.79mm-7.96mm which would make the stone out of round.

oops - my mistake... the diameter is 7.89 mm -7.96 mm. Do you think that that I'll look like a 1.8 carat?

Date: 2/1/2005 7:38:19 PM this stone is cut too deep @ 63.3% ,even worst you will be paying a 2 ct premium for a smaller diameter stone.

Thanks! j it is always harder to find a "mind clean" stone than a eye clean stone. |

The diamond you are describing could be a gorgeous stone, the depht is still in the range of a super stone. Allthough, it depends on the color, clarity, and the price!!! The stone you are describing should be discounted a few percent from the perfect 8.2 mm. dia. But since we all know that these 2 ct. rounds are very much in demand, i would suggest to you the following: if its a H color or better, and a SI1 clarity or better. you should be aware that these diamonds are getting scarcer everyday. If you love the stone, and the price is fair, dont go looking for the perfect round, (it will be way more expencive) My opinion is that these type of diamonds will go up in price (a double digit % this year) ********************** |

The ring is a F color, VS2, no cutlet, no flourescense, VG polish, G symmetry, medium to thick girdle. It looks beautiful and very brilliant. They are asking for $23K. Is that a good price?
