I hope they show lots of big BLING!!!

teehee!!  Talk about jailbait--I picked up the magazine of this for the flight and how about Billy Joel and his 23 year old bride (whose MOH was his 19 year old daughter!!!!)  Yeesh!

Can't wait for this--I think Mariska looks stunning!  (I just don't want to wait till I'm 40 to get married b/c there's no way I'll look like that!!)

lol! 'As the thread turns' to celebrity dish, here's my .02

The marriage of Billy Joel to Ms Jailbait is just........ICKY. why why why?

BUT I DO like her Oscar de la Renta gown. It's a tad short in the front hem (I don't plan on cramming my toes into 4" Jimmy Choos for 5 hours) but all in all...I like the girl's taste in clothes.

Keven Costner's wife's (what IS her name?) dress is super gorgeous too (bit poofy but amazing).

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the show 'Whose Wedding is it Anyway.' Completely convinced me to get a wedding planner.

I also watch Bridezillas... think I'm obsessed? My bf thinks it's funny.

Just a little comment on Billy Joel and his much younger wife... my parents had a age difference of 26 years... she was 23 and he was 49 when they met and married (courted for only 6 months -- he proposed after only 6 weeks). They lived very happily for 30 years together before my father passed away. I agree, that at first blush these things do look yucky, but they aren't always a bad thing... We should be happy for all marriages... I'm sure no one here would want to be judged on such a superficial basis...

Will be fun to watch. I love Mariska Hargitay, I think that Star Jones' wedding will be the most lavish of them all!

Point taken, ammayernyc....my best friend from college recently lost her dad at 85--her parents were also 26 years apart (his 3rd marriage, her 2nd) and they were one of the happiest, most devoted couples I've ever known.  I also have several friends whose dads are in their 70s with closer to a 15 year age diff.  (And I'm sorry for the loss of your Dad.)  I guess it's just easier to take the judgemental approach with celebs and make assumptions that their intentions are somehow not as sincere.  But you're right, we of all people should be happy for ALL weddings.  (Does that mean I have to be happy for Star Joes too?)  But I don't mean to offend  Mea culpa!!

(And Lovey, I agree--the new Mrs. Joel has some good taste both in clothes and style--loved the rustic Tuscan thing she had going on.  I hate my ankles (cankles!) and wouldn't wear that dress, but the neckline and lace are lovely.)

I am unreasonably excited about things like this....I also watch For Better for For Worse and FREAK OUT about how I could never do that myself!!  A Wedding Story can be cheesy, but I cry anyway, of COURSE.

I think you may have misunderstood my "icky" comment. Sorry if you were offended. I'm thrilled for your parents, and I agree that sometimes the age difference does work out. And yes, marriage should always be celebrated..of course

It is just my opinion that Billy Joel has completely lost touch with reality. Between his recent multiple DWI's (yes he even crashed into a house) and rehab, I'm surprised that he has had ample time to stabilize and find the love of his life. The fact that she is 32 years younger does not lend their particular union much credibility.......

ah who knows? and yes, blueroses I loved her whole Tuscan theme too..that reception courtyard layout (featured in In-Style) was outrageous..and the gastby-esque mansion on Center Island....niiiiiiiice. oh man.."we have to be nice to Star too?" lol!!! You are too funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad you approve of my "Star"-scepticism, Lovey  I just can't get past the SNL versions of her.  But she did look very pretty in that dress--she slimmed down a LOT.  There are just a lot of rumors that Al is, um, a friend of Dorothy.

The new Mrs. Joel....I don't know--I was a big old baby at 23, but that's just me--I was actually struck by how together she seemed in the comments about the planning, food, etc...so maybe she's going to be this stablizing/sobering influence in his life?  It's always a shame that so many brilliant artists have a hard time keeping things together in their personal lives....Hell, Bogey and Bacall were that far apart too!

blueroses!

Star-zilla! But really, she just wanted to be Cinderella at the ball (and don't we all..so I can't fault her for that). HA! Yes the SNL. hmmmm...now that you mentioned Dorothy....maybe...ok now I need to take another look at their pics. Yes, she did work hard at the weight and man was she glowing. TWO receptions at the Waldorf are SO MUCH better than one! She's so right, children really need to have their own reception . (no really) OK, I will stop snarking now and be good.

She looked really pretty.

I know, I know--we all do want to be Cinderella--or at least Cinderella on our own terms.  And she did look really pretty.

But it's just so *fun* to snark!!  (And to that end, he looked really pretty too!)  It was clearly a gorgeous affair, I just always think it's interesting when a celeb has like, 30 bridesmaids and they're all other famous people.

I'm bad too, no worries!!

Ok, back to the gushing and drooling.....Christine Baumgartner's Neil Lane 5 ct. asscher!!!!!  WOWZA!  And I actually thought Tori Spelling's dress was just lovely--and interesting, according to In Style, her e-ring was like, 1.5 ct!  (Which is small for a celeb!)

Yes! I noticed the 1.5 size too. My reaction was something like "wow. you go girl" Guess she was keeping it real. lol!

Tori's dress was both beautiful and unique. I also loved the table settings. Very 1920s. I'm saving their picture as inspiration. Love the 20s and the 30s..was actually thinking of doing finger curls and a semi-updo for my wedding hair. Just a hint of drama queen!

Lovey, you just need to get off my brain

No, I really loved her whole set up too--down to the 20s-style champagne "bowl" goblets.  BF and I both love that era...I would love to have a big-band doing standards at my reception.  I'm shorter than Tori, but I really love the line of her dress and have saved similar pics in the past.

Ooh, I love your hair idea--like Harlowe or Gardner or something!  Very glam!!

I adored Tori's dress as well and she looked stunning and simple in it. Funny because I don't really love her normally (too many 90210 bad boob job memories), but she really looked amazing.

I am ashamed to say I am dying to see Britney's wedding to her loser-hubby, since pictures of it weren't really published in any mags that I saw...it was so hush-hush and all I saw were blurry images here and there. It's like a train wreck, you can't help but watch.

I agree..good thing Greg is busy tonite and one of my girlfriends is coming over to hang out!!  He  would DIE if I made him watch it, esp since he had his fill of weddings last year when we had ours!

IF I SEE ONE MORE COMMERCIAL WITH THE WILMAS  AND JUDY who I all hate btw I"M GOING TO HURT SOMEONE. How many times did they show that commercial? I wasn't in love with anyone's dress but I'll takesome of their rings! Geena Lee Nolan was really pretty. I was surprised. I thought she had "hit the wall"....but in my world, when you're over a 3.5 ct round, you're approaching too big and tacky....the 6 ct was gross. I never knew that Scott Wolf's bride was that girl from the Real World. Lucky her. He's too teeny-bob for me but handsome and funny....MTV was the best thing that ever happened to her.

i agree MMM, if it wasn't for kelly being on the real world, their paths would have never crossed, but i do love her ring!
as for star jones, i am sure she demanded that her story be last or she wouldn't have let them air her wedding...whatever

I agree with MMM, didn't LOVE any of the dresses.  What I did like was Mariska Hargitay and the Party of Five guy using film instead of video for their weddings.  Novel idea.  BayWatch girl's ring was very pretty also. The center was just short of gaudy but I liked the story behind the ring.

KBerly:  apparently Star was upset because ABC cut out all references to the vendors she used.  Notice that Reem Acra did her dress, but was only referred to as "The Designer" on the show.  That wedding was just too over top for me.  But I guess that's just the type of gal she is.

The film! I forgot about that. That was SO cool. I'm just not cool enough to know about that trend...

p.s. I can picture Star Jones beating her husband LOL...and it has nothing to do with her being a big girl. She is just such a diva. I do wish I could have heard more of her one bridesmaid singing (I forget her name) b/c her voice was amazing.

MMM...yes!  I can definitely see Star beating Al.  She definitely wears the pants.  Her bridesmaid's singing was amazing!  I wish some of my friends could sing like that!

I liked Brandy's ring... and it wasn't TOO ostentatious at only 11.5ct.

But at 1/4 the size, I wouldn't mind it for myself.
