Can we exchange jobs for month or so ? ![]() The higher up the diamond-making chain this forum gets is with the comments of a couple of cutters... no one talking about their rough material. So, you are certainly welcome to fill in the void ! There must be lots of it. What comes out of the gound ? What is sent out for cutting into what shapes and sizes ? What colors come from Canada ? Does it get boring ? Is rough diamond jewelry any more popular around the source ? I could never understand why it is more so everywhere ! Actually, any story you might have under the sleeve... please put it down if you so please ![]() For example, the makers of the Context cut diamond claim that their merchandise can only be done from very fine material. How false does this sound to you ? Ana "The greatest experts are only as good as the sum total of what they have seen." [Souren Melikian] |

HeavyT: Welcome to Pricescope. I am sure that longterm your presence will be a huge benifit here. Occasionally we get someone who is interested in purchasing a rough diamond or two. Sit back and take your time going through the tutorias and following the discussions; you will learn a lot about what becomes of your rough diamonds. By the way, do you sort for Fluoresence; and if so, about what % of the diamonds have fluoresence from your mine. Perry

Welcome HeavyT I have visited the Perth sorting facility and seen your brothers and sisters in the Argyle Rio Tinto owned bsuiness. I have a question for you. Do you think or are you trained to believe that a very slightly distorted octa hedra is more valuable than a perfectly shaped one? Garry Holloway FGAA DipDT |

Perry: We do not sort the fluoresence here at our Product Splitting Facility, most Canadain Diamonds dont fluorese that much at all so thats why, we still have the x-ray machines at the mine site recovery area however, cause they do help. Garry: No Im afraid not, we dont really deal to much in the value of diamonds, just the processing of them. Canada needs marketing |

Welcome HeavyT! Can you tell us a little about the sorting process? I for one always look at those pictures of the rough and wonder how you know what you have...
