When we recieve a shipment directly from our mine site it will come in as a mixture of rough diamonds and non-diamond, non-diamond being anything from other gems to granite. Our mine produces some of the purest stones in the world, we dont get many coloured stones, but we do get lots and lots of DEF's.

After we are finished our sorting, seiveing, and cleaning processes, our Joint Venture Owners, Rio Tinto (60%), and Aber Diamonds Canada (40%), take their share of diamonds. Then those diamonds (not all) are sold to the cutting works that are here in the NWT. The cutting works up here gets all sorts of shapes to cut and usually they only cut stones that will have a 0.40 to a half carat finish weight, allthough they do/can cut all sizes.

As I said before we dont get to many coloured stones here in Canada (we say that our stones cant be coloured cause there is too much snow, so they are always white). However we do get the odd pink that will come through, aswell as a fancy yellow or two, other than that, not much else.

Does it get boring? NO, diamond sorting/seiving at our PSF is pretty fun, we have a very close team and a very relaxed work environment. We have excelled in every aspect of our operation and just recently were reccomened for ISO 9001 certification after an audit took place by ISO.

Rough Dimaond Jewlery is unfortunatley, not very popular up here, I think it would be if jewlers were supplied with them, but they hardly are. I personally love rough jewlery, I think it is awesome.
