Hey Playa,
read up on all the info available here.  Then start doing some price searching.

Welcome to Pricescope.

The answer to your question is rather broad.

A few cents for some, millions of dollars for others.

It really depends what size and quality of diamond you want.

Please review the tutorial information on the basics of the 4 C's, and the importance of Cut quality (not part of the 4 C's).  I presume you want a diamond that has "life" and is not "dead."

Then, depending on what you are looking for...  You can do searches for the qualities and size you want.  Most single Jewelery diamonds range from several hundred dollars up to about $20,000 (although a few go above that range).

Please follow the forums (lurk) as well for a bit to get some ideas on the issues.

If you are really pressed for time, let us know your application and your budget and there are people here who will help (i.e.  Solitair engagment ring - basic setting, $$$$, or Earrings $$$$, etc).  Although it will help if you understand the basic tutorial information.
