Was gone this week on business, returned to wade through personal email...imagine my surprise when I found an email from the Wedding Channel editor saying that they were running a spread in Summer 05 magazine of Wedding Bells on bouquets and that they were featuring mine! She mentioned my photographer telling me, so I guess that is how they found my bouquet, but she said they loved it, and wanted more information. I answered a few of her questions via email on things like the flowers, wedding, Hawaii, etc and she also noted that they would send us a copy of the issue when it came out! This sounds kind of silly, but I'm really excited! I don't know if they will feature our picture or anything, but I think they will use our names (she asked for proper spelling of them etc), and also feature our amazing florist from Kauai which I adored, so I'm happy to see Arlene get extra press for her business. She did an exceptional job with the flowers from only a few vague picture emails on what I wanted, and put up with me changing things only a few days before the wedding...the flowers were one of my favorite parts of the whole scenario...esp since I'm a gardener. Anyway, what a fun surprise to come home to! I can't wait to see the issue, and if they DO use a picture of us, I just hope it's a good one!!

Here is the bouquet...the first is the photographers shot (which I would assume they'd use in the mag), the other 2 are my amateur ones. It was more beautiful than I had expected, we added in the wine cymbidiums at the last moment and it was perfect.________________________________ |

Good idea Melissa!! Have rings, will post in magazine! ![]() I love all types of flowers...we weren't going to do orchids if we got married locally (I was looking at more springlike bouquets with some of my favorite bulbs such as tulips and freesias), but when we moved the locale to Hawaii, and I found out how affordable orchids are there as opposed to elsewhere where they are considered 'exotic'...I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do something different and extremely fitting for the location! We also had white orchids strewn as my 'walkway' down the aisle, strewn between the dining tables on the grass (I wanted the green and white contrast), and all up and down the iron arch with greenery (covered the arch entirely with just white orchids and ferns), the centerpieces were 15-20 stems of just white orchids...it was really simple and lovely, the bouquets with their touch of color was the perfect addition! ________________________________ |

Vey cool Mara...your flowers were beautiful. Will this issue of Wedding Bells be available all over the country...dying for an excuse to buy a wedding magazine. My husband was like "enough!" as I stood staring at the bridal mags in Border's recently! I agree that your ering belongs in the shot as well! klr (who would love to be in Kauai at this moment)

I think the issue is available nationwide...I know we can get it here in our local stores and it is not a California publication...it's the Wedding Channel's magazine (www.weddingchannel.com) similar to how theknot.com has their own publication...I think that they only come out a few times a year. She noted 'Summer 2005' so I assume it'll be out sometimes in May or June as a pre-summer purchase. ![]() ________________________________ |

Your bouquet is gorgeous. I love the shot with it laying down on its side tied with the pink bow. It's really cute! Hope your flowers are chosen to be published in this mag. Talk about a fun way to complete your wedding album. . .a bridal mag with your name in it
