My fiance proposed to me on New Years Eve. It was so completely unexpected but so romantic! :) but i absolutely love my ring, even though i think it was way overpriced. :-P I'm wearing a car practically on my hand... i'm kind of paranoid about it getting stolen or getting mugged! :-P I was just wondering what the avg price is that people spend nowadays on engagement rings? Oh yeah, i attached a picture of my ring from the website...it's a Tiffany channel set solitaire. i'll post up pics of the real thing when i get it back from being resized.....

Beautiful! Can't wait to see pics of the real thing. It's fun to see Tiffany rings "in person." As for your concerns about the cost, 1) do you love it? 2) are you going into major debt or having to forego other things to pay for it? If the answers are yes and no respectively, then I would get it insured and wear it in good health! I don't know the exact answer to your question, but having lurked here for the past few months, it seems like people pay anywhere from $500 to like a bagillion for their rings. There was a thread on one of the fourms recently on this topic, so if you did a search you'd probably find it. Congratulations!

It's a stunner! Very classy and I bet that baby sparkles! We can't wait to see your pictures. (Isn't it tough waiting for a resize?) You likely have already been through the insurance process. When I feel uncertain about an area that I'm walking through or something, I just flip my ring around so the stones are facing my palm. Alot of women do this. Enjoy! Mary

I tried this one on at Tiffany's and yes they were expensive but they were indeed beautiful! Congrats on your engagement. Re: your question: it varies, but someone posted on here that the average ring in the US. cost about $3800 or so... My upgrade though cost about 4 times that much..

yes, it sparkles like no other ring i have ever seen. sometimes i catch myself (and OTHERS!) staring at it ![]() it's a 1.03 ct VS1 E color center stone and 5 .35 ct stones in the channel set on each side i think.... i don't know if it's considered "tacky" to share how much it is :-x but i have to get a second opinion.... yes i'm sure he couldve gotten around the same thing for much less elsewhere... as i have seen repeatedly discussed in these heated "tiffany threads" but the ring came to $13,700 and then after tax it came to $14,800.... ridiculous how much tax ![]() anyways, pics to come! here's a blurry one to tide y'all over for now ![]() these pricescope forums are absolutely addicting! sometimes i find myself up until 4 am reading! <----- addict ![]()

I too did all the "right" things and fully intended to avoid the Tiffany brand "fee" but when you get there you just gotta go with the whole experience and if its a 15% price uplift what the hey it'll always have the special feelings around the whole buying experience. You do get a whole pile of Tiffany pedagree papers an addition to and more than just the GIA cert and you KNOW they gotta make sure what they sell you is the real deal - they can't take a chance on selling inferior quality stones because they make such a big deal of the sorts of stones they will and will not accept. Specifically they seem to do a whole load of additional sarin checks and inclusion "type" checks before accpeting the stones in and then an after setting inspection to make sure its all still good. It could be hype but I am very happy with my purchase. I paid about $5000 MORE than I could have got the STONE ONLY for at this quality, so I look at it like this. I paid $5000 for a Tiffany Platinum Setting with the diamond resistration and weight engraved inside the setting and the Tiffany brand engraved in and a nice little box. Also you get a white BAGEL bag to walk out of the shop with rather than the blue "I just bought a silver chain" bag! What would it have cost me to have a loose stone set like this about $2000 - SO I paid $3000 over the top for the brand and the assurance, and I got to see a whole load of different stones in the flesh - I am cool with that. Nice Ring, I am trying to photo mine but looks like the focus thing is an international problem Thanks |

I'd love to see pix of it too, I like that particular setting (though the prongs seem too big in the Tiffany website picture) as well. Average on Pscope is different from average US I would venture to say...if that 3800 is typical then most of us spent at least double if not 3 or 4 or 5 times more.

I love your ring. I think as long as you love it -- which you seem to! -- then what's wrong with that? I'm all for spending a little more on something that is so special and beautiful and going to last a while. So enjoy it!!!
