Hi All - I am about to buy my girlfriend an engagment ring, and trust me she has trained me well so I know exactly what to buy: The Tiffany (Art-Deco style) Legend Engagement Ring.  However, I have two questions.  First, Is this ring still available (I search the T&Co. website, but I could not find it.)? Second, I read on another string here that the ring's main diamond is about 1c and the ring costs around 12K.  I was planning on spending 25-30K on the ring, so I was wondering if it was possible to increase the diamond size, even though the ring seems pre-made.  I thank you for any help (and I am certain my girlfriend thanks you).  ;)

[You can see the ring I am talking about on another forum post (search for 'deco').]

Hi nyc_guy!  I replied to your post on the other thread......and then confused myself by thinking you meant another ring entirely (I've since erased that 2nd post!!)

Anyway, you can check my other reply, but that's the Legacy and it's gorgeous!!  They carry a variety of sizes/weights, and you will have no problem getting a bigger stone with that budget!  It comes in 2 different settings:  the ornate and the simple.  The ornate is the one you posted, with the wider tapering shank and pave on three sides of the band, while the simple only has pave on one side of the band and has a thinner band.

Good luck and congrats!!!!

Be careful with that. I beleive another poster had a VERY BAD experience trying to get one of these for herself and they gave up.

Im glad she knows what she wants. And Im impressed at your budge! You can probably get bigger than a full carat, hell maybe 2 carats!

You're correct.

Further reinforced my insane distaste for the company.

Thanks everyone for the info.  I think I may check out that ring with the gf in the future, but, i'll also check out Harry Winston, since I've heard some good things about him on this site!

It was me who had the bad experience when purchasing this ring, but I'm going to chalk it up to a lot of bad luck and assume it was an isolated experience. The Legecy is an absolutely beautiful ring. Looking around is definitely a good idea, though. For my fiance and I, it was an impulse purchase. Had I realized there were so many similar styles, I would have gone for a bigger stone of similar (or better) quality. As far as bragging rights, most people notice the size before the brand. If you like the look of the Legecy, another PSer (Reena) has a gorgeous Leon Mege ring that looks almost identical from the top, but the side views are even more spectacular (sorry, I'm having picture posting issues this morning).
