I didn't think it was real, but my friend Callie, who is always getting free stuff, and cheap discounts sent me this offer for a marketing ploy that gives out free I-Pods. Basically, to advertise, they make you fill out a quick 5 minute survey and you must sign up for ONE offer, and complete that transaction, as well as e-mail five other people. My friend suggested getting a credit card out of it, and the Wall Street Journal. I personally went with the Blockbuster online membership (which is like Netflix), but my other friend did the E-Fax, which she said can be set-up and then cancelled after it posts to your account 1-2 days later. If you forget to cancel, it is $12.95/month, so it seemed the cheaper alternative... My friend honestly has always been in tune with great deals, and even found me a laser HP printer for $200 shipped when it retails over $399... She's good, so I trust that this one works, but let me know what you guys think! Plus, she said this deal was reported on some news staion recently... I saw the news report on the local DC news. The company is based out of DC as well. Here is the only link i was able to find on the story... its from NBC in Boston. http://www1.whdh.com/features/articles/specialreport/DBM710/ This is someones personal website, but it gives a link to video from the above newstation (click on the first link under Proof) http://homepage.mac.com/davidemm/freeipod.html#proof Seems the only catch is refering your friends and then getting them to sign up.

yeah good luck, the catch is that 5 of your friends have to sign up too....i dont know about you but my friends are pretty jaded about stuff like this....hehee...a friend sent it to me, i was bored one day and did it and of course not one person out of about 20 signed up. ah well. ipods aren't that great anyway.  get a tivo instead! comcast gave out thousands of free ones to customers here in the BayArea last week!

How many hours do you have to spend with me on this question, DG? Analog recos, needles, vinyl and tubes over Digital/SS are still fancied by many... There is a charming quality and undeniable presence of depth in recording/playback done with no D to A conversion. It's like preferring 'warmer' colors in your diamond. John |

Is this for real? I just got this in an e-mail as well? Normally, as Mara and her friends are, I am quite jaded, but then again, I have seen some really funny things and even got a free car once, so I have to say that sometimes there are just silly marketing schemes out there, and you CAN be a beneficiary... Has anyone tried it and gotten an I-Pod out of it? My poor I-Pod is on the fritz...need a new one...
