And the different numbers change the cut grade from a 1b to 2b...why are the numbers different and which outcome do I heed more?

well if the depth or table showed up over 65 that would drop it but dont worry too much sarin results are all over the map on anything but round stones--it sounds like a very nice stone don't overthink it too much

I believe the best answer would be to find and independent gemologist and appraiser who has a lot of serious equipment to check the GIA as well as the Sarin report you have. This will provide you with peace of mind and helpful in making a decision based on being properly informed. Do not go to someone who buys and sells diamonds. Rockdoc

The Sarin reports can be off by a fair amount (depends on how well they're calibrated), so I would go by the GIA report. In fact, the GIA report and my appraiser had the same numbers down to the final decimal, whereas the Sarin report differed from 3 companies and none matched the GIA.

Sarin numbers will not help you a lot with fancy cuts. Ideal-scope images are of some use - but not as much as with rounds. Brilliancescope etc can be of some use too. If you can have someone run a Sarin 3D scan then this cana be more useful as it can be converted into a Gem Adviser file and other tests can be performed. If the vendor has the stones in house - or is prepared to send two stones to an independant appraiser this can help too. there is a list on the top right resources drop down.
