So here's my 'dilemma.' I have met the woman I want to marry. She has made it quite clear that she feels the same. But...she knows my feeling, and intentions, and I don't want her to know its coming. So a surprise proposal it is. At the sametime, however, I want to proposal to be something romantic and memorable. Now, before all the "whatever it is it will be memorable" comments start, let me say of course it will be, but I want it to be a "wowser" I want her to tell her friends about it. If I plan a trip or a romantic date that is out of the ordinary in any way, she'll see it coming a mile away. I was thinking that I could call her boss (I happen to know him) and make sure that she has the afternoon free, though without her knowing she does, maybe by having him tell her to clear her schedule, he needs her help all afternoon. Then, in a limo, go pick up her dog (she loves her dog more than anything in the world...trust me on this one, she would want her there). Then, call her from downstairs from her office, and tell her that I am having a terrible day, and just need to see her for one minute, maybe a half hour before she THINKS she has to go help her boss. WHen she comes downstairs, she'd look around, but not see me, I'd be in the limo. After a few seconds, have the driver get out, escort her to the car, where I would be. Begin speech...proposal, much crying and hugging. Then, tell her that the boss doesn't need her help, and that she isn't going back upstairs at all. WHisk her away to our favorite restaurant for a late lunch/early dinner, where my car will be waiting, all packed, for a nice weekend away at a dog-frindly B&B in the woods. Any feedback? |

Wow. Great feedback...thanks everybody. Now if I could just decide on the stone...I am way better at being romantic than I am at being decisive about such a huge purchase.

I think your idea (assuming her boss is a good sport) can accomplish the WOW you're looking for while also catching her completely off guard.
