I've ordered a 1.51 carat Radiant from Whiteflash and I now need a ring. I'm looking at a simple Platinum X-Prong type setting from Vatche, which is similar to the one offered by Tiffany & Co. with their Lucida diamond. I'd like a simple setting because I will be buying my soon to be fiancé a 4.5 TCW Radiant Eternity Band (I'm not sure if it will be channel-set or prong-set) and I don't want the setting to take away from the center stone. In any case, my questions are this: 1) Does anyone have experience with the Vatche X-Prong ring (likes/dislikes)? 2) WF quoted me $1,320 for the setting and to set my diamond. Good price? 3) Any recommendations for designers of X-Prong rings other that Vatche? 4) Will this setting work with either of the eternity bands like I'm looking at? A picture of the Prong-Set Eternity Band I'm looking at (mine will be around 4.5 TCW): http://www.thefacetscollection.com/item.cfm?item_id=1064 A picture of the Channel-Set Eternity Band I'm looking at (mine will have Radiants in it): http://www.thefacetscollection.com/item.cfm?item_id=858 A picture of the Vatche X-Prong setting: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/Platinum-X-Prong-by-Vatche_650.htm A picture of the Lucida setting: http://www.tiffany.com/expertise/diamond/rings/engagement_lucida_ring.asp?ring=lucida& I tired to attach pictures, but I keep getting error messages? |

Any comments on Jeff Cooper's Platinum "Lattice" Solitaire (style # R2964-5)?

IMO, it is very possible that your wedding band might detract from your center stone because of the carat weight of the band.

I'm not too concerned about the wedding band taking from the e-ring, I just don't want the e-band to take from the center stone. I probably should have clarified this

Awwwww! Then I think that a simply sleek band like the xprong will be stunning! Good Luck!

I bought my fiance the X prong for her 1 ct Round and she LOVES it. The low style setting is perfect for her (she works with her hands quite a bit), and she loves the design and profile of the ring. I'd definately recommend it to anyone looking for a beatiful solitaire setting. Now as for your wedding band, I have to agree with fortheloveofdiamonds even if you aren't concerned. That band would totally overtake the 1.51 ct center stone I'm afraid. My Fiance tried on eternity bands from Signed Pieces also, and those that were over 1 CT toal weight really did mask the beauty and grace of her center stone. Of course every one has their own opinions and preferences, so just as long as you see the two side by side and don't mind, then go for it! Buster PS: I ordered the .63 ct Sharing Prong eternity band from SP yesterday and it will arrive tomorrow! My Fiance loved the thin band of 34 VERY sparkly diamonds...it looks great with her x prong!

The Vatche X-Prong does look nice. I read some other posts where people said they weren't too impressed by the Vatche setting and I was hoping I could get a little more feedback. I think I've narrowed it down to the Vatche X-Prong (style 803 for 1.50 carat diamonds) and Jeff Cooper's Platinum "Lattice" Solitaire (style # R2964-5), which is a little different (the band looks like it's more flat). Does $1,320 sound good for the Vatche setting? I'm not sure how much the Jeff Cooper one is, but there is a jeweler by my house that carries it so I'll check it out.

$1,870 for the Jeff Cooper ring from the local Las Vegas, NV rep.

That price sounds close to what you'll find Vatche at in other stores...perhaps a bit higher, but not too much. Buster
