I just need to take a poll to discover how many others are out there that use this forum as an excellent form of studying procrastination!

Let's all list our grad school status, where we go and what we're in for...

I'm in my first year at University of Maryland (although my true allegiance goes to my undergrad alma mater, Penn State.)  In for speech pathology

***just letting you know that this post is procrastination currently at work!

Wow PS- I didn't know you were THAT close to me.
You're just a stone's throw away.  We should meet for coffee sometime.

In it for the LONG haul... MD-PhD student at Cornell Med (NYC) going on 5 yrs and hopefully not too many after that (2 more then i am freeeeeeeeee....)

Oh and I am close to being forbidden by my coworkers from pricescope  since I am always drawn away unexpectedly for experiments and I often leave the computer with pictures of Reena's ring up or a brilliantscope or a faceting pattern etc ... all for the world to see that I am NOT studying cancer...

Ok time to hit the books again

PS is a GREAT form of procrastination! I'm currently finishing a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. I've finished all of my coursework, but this dissertation is killing me (I've hit the 800 page mark if you count all the statistical analyses!)!!!

HI:

Uncompleted PhD (Education--IT)--and as far as I can tell, it will stay that way.  No procrastination here--got that 500 pound monkey off my back after teaching at the University; lesson in reality and what I needed to know it was not what I wanted to do with my life--afterall.  Taking some time off and enjoying life/family--may return to medical research where I spent 10 happy but poor (pays terribly) years.

Keep up the good work ya'll!

cheers--Sharon

I went to a true liberal arts school for undergrad (you couldn't pick a practical major if you tried!), where I studied Comparative Religion and Mathematics.  Ergo, I got my Master of Accountancy at GW right after graduation.  Periodically I debate whether I'd like to go back for a PhD in Accounting, a Master of Quantitative Finance or law school (my interests are a tad bit varied).  We'll see... for now I'm just hanging out and working and dreaming about making enough money to buy all the diamonds I want.  Plus my fiance is getting his Master's at UVa in Urban and Environmental Planning and starts law school in the fall, so I will be supporting him for a bit!

Ginger--of course, I was including med students in my search for grad school porcrastinators.  Anything that involves schooling after undergrad...

Katbadness--yes, you are definitely included as well!  Applying for grad school was almost worse than being in it!

Well, damn...i am impressed.  We are an accomplished bunch!  Good to know that I am not the only procrastinator...sometimes I feel like everyone is my program is such an overacheiver that I must be a major slacker!  Below:  Just some of the activities that are much more fun than studying and, thus, continue the addiction of procrastination...(sorry, couldn't find one of someone surfing around PS)

(hmm, don't know--I actually might prefer studying to exercising!)

ok, so i finished my 3rd year of med school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and right now I'm doing a year of research (genetics, I actually do research outside of diamonds, although that may not be evident by the amount of time I spend on PS! ) before I return to finish out my fourth year.

I'm a doctoral student in Information Studies and hubby is a resident, so we're always studying (or procrastinating!). I did my masters five years ago and thought I was done, but I guess not!

Go Wolfpack!!!  Hubby has two Graduate degrees from NCS.

Funny about procrastination.   The second Grad degree was completed except for Thesis - which was completed about 8 years later.

oh my, i guess we're all quite gifted at managing to not study.  i am a 1st year medical student (ouch scott terence who is MD/PhD!!) and since i recently discovered this site, i've been busily not studying for my biochem exam.  luckily we just finished anatomy cause that stuff is a lot harder to cram at the last minute!

Come to think of it, I suppose it is not all that surprising that there are a bunch of us "professional students" here on Pricescope, since we obviously don't mind spending hours and years reading, evaulating and researching different topics... too bad the long and hard days don't translate to big bucks... just big debts

Scott

but along the way it wouldnt hurt to pick up a few sparkles for our lovedones

OK, guys...Am I the only one who's just a little scared that our future doctors are NOT studying their anatomy?????

Reminds me of an old joke:  What do you call the person who graduated LAST in his medical school class? DOCTOR.

Seriously, congrats to all of you--very impressive, indeed. I started a Masters in English I never finished but I did manage to finish the MBA.

Yay! I am included.  If you all surf all my posts for the day you will learn that I pretty much got nothing done today.  My Master's Thesis is due by the end of the first week of December and I defend on December 20!!! Ouch!  I will have completed all my requirements and thesis within 4 semesters (2 fall, 1 summer, 1 spring).  Pricescope will be to blame if I fail. LOL!  This new ring is actually somewhat of a graduation present to go along with the diploma.  M.A. Latin American Studies - Political Science! Go figure!

Good Luck to all on exams and getting something done.

Researcher! Awww 800 pages! You go girl!

I am not sure if I am officially in the club?  I have my MFA in Acting already--May 03.  But I also did an MA in Theatre before that and never finished my thesis--coursework done, thesis is not.  SO.....I am planning to re-enroll to write the darn thing b/c in the last 3.5 years since I was working on that degree I want to throw out my existing 1st chapter and start over completely.

So I'm technically on leave, but I'll be back with in 1-2 semesters I think.
