We love the chaos and sparkle of the flanders cut.  But, I have been told that as soon as they get the slightest bit dirty, they lose all their fire.  So, people are having me look at the lucere.  Does that stone do any better?  Shoule I not worry about what they say and just keep the stone clean.

Also, I haven't seen the lucere yet in person and I worry about the step cuts... we don't like that in the radiant... will I likely not like it in the lucere?

Any thoughts?   Any thing else I should be looking at?

Thanks!!!

Hm. If you don't like the step cuts in a radiant it's very possible you won't like it in a lucere.

Who told you that? A vendor who can't get you a flanders?
There is no reason why a flanders would lose fire more than any other filthy stone :)

Hi kerimarsha,

Welcome to PriceScope!

Any diamond loses its fire when it's dirty!!!  And if you like the Flanders cut, then you should pursue it.

I am not sure what you mean by "step cuts" on a Radiant???  The only stones I know that have "step cuts" are the Emerald cut and the Asscher.  Before you write off Radiants, be sure you have actually seen the real thing.  They tend to have the look of cracked ice.

Good luck with your search!

Icelady, a radiant *is* a combo of step and brilliant cuts, as is the Lucere.

What about something like the Jubilee?

OHHHHH!!!
The Jubilee seems to be so beautiful!!  I like cuts that are a little "different" like the Asscher, radiant, etc.  How are the prices on the Jubilee compared to a similar RB?  Are they much more expensive?  I would LOVE to see one up close.

They are HOT!

This is what we have suspected... that anyone who couldn't get the stone might have negative things to say.  Many of them haven't even seen the cut.  It just seems strange to me that one ideal cut would handle dirt so much differently than another.

I went to see the Lucere today.  It is pretty.  I certainly prefer it to the raidiant and the princess.  But, I think I want to go see the flanders again...

Any price per carat guidelines for either the flanders or the lucere since their inventory is so well managed?  I'm thinking about a carat, f-h, vvs2-si1...

Thanks for the feedback so far!  I really appreciate it!

Hest,

True step cuts are Emerald and Asscher cuts.  I doubt that any one could look at a TRUE Radiant and be able to pick out the step cuts in it.  The original Radiant cut (link) was developed to add brilliance to the rectangular diamond shape.

I have not heard anyone refer to a true Radiant as a step cut.  That is why I wanted to make sure that kerimarsha
had really seen a true Radiant, since she stated in her oringal post that she liked the "chaos and sparkle" of the Flanders.

kerimarsha,

Good luck with your search!
