Is there any such thing as a rectangular princess cut? My jeweler says they are more common than radiant cuts. Please advise

Your jeweler has never seen a colored stone. Radiants are very popular for colored diamonds, but are not AS common as the SQUARE princess in colorless stones. Maybe rectangular princesses are easier to find than square radiants... A princess was made to be square, so a rectangular princess is a preference that is tougher to find, since they are cut for the masses who want squares. Rectangular is either done on purpose from a long shaped rough, or simply someone cutting the stone longer to retain the carat weight. Either way, haven't encountered many of them, but it's not impossible! Good luck! "Sometimes it's OK to throw rocks at girls...as long as they sparkle! |
