Hi, May I have some opinions please (again)? I'm currently looking at a 1.41 carat round brilliant in a G color. If I go down to an H color I can get a 1.50 for the same price. What do you think? Should I go down to the H for the 1.50?

Can you give us all the specs? I don't think there's much of a difference at all between a G & and H, especially if you have a well cut stone. Does the H have any flourescence? Which stone is cut better? There are a few other decidin factors t hat you must include. If the 1.41 is a well cut stone, it may look bigger than the 1.50. If the 1.50 is ideal cut and the 1.41 is poorly cut, it may show more color becuase of the cut (I think)! Remember, I'm not professional, just an average girl with a GREAT H color idea cut, and let me tell you , I have NEVER ONCE seen a spec of yellow in my H - rock! Good luck! And post pics when you're all done! :) ***2 one way tickets and a diamond ring, hell it don't matter what the rain might bring...*** |

assuming both stones are equal in quality, what satisfies you more mentally? Having a 1.5 or a G color? ______________________________ Stewart says: I'm good enough. I'm smart enough. And doggon'it, people like me. |

Rosy, It seems to me that you really want the 1.50 carat ring. If this is the case then go for a H/VS2 AGS000 I am sure it will be very white, bright, and sparkley! I have seen a H/VS2 AGS000 and it was gorgeous!

I doubt you'll see much of a difference, if any, between the G and H, so I'd also go for the 1.5.

When I first started looking I thought that I needed a G, but I've since realized that I really cannot see much difference between a G/H/I. I would go to an H without question for a bigger stone.

Hi, Unlike everyone else, since both 1.41 and 1.5 will be extremely close in diameter (assuming both are great cuts) then I'd go for the G color stone. Color is a bigger deal to me than size, epecially when we're only talking nine points on two bigger diamonds. Smaller diamonds, I would consider the H. You've got to decide which is most important to you. Some care mostly about size, rather than color, so this is really about personal preference. Michelle

I DONT THINK THERE IS MUCH DIFFRENCE IN THE SIZE. WHY DONT YOU COMPARE BOTH STONES NEXT TO EACH OTHER AND SEE WHICH ONE IS BETTER FOR YOU. IF YOU DONT WANT TO GIVE UP THE COLOR GO LESS ON THE CLARITY. MY PRIORITY IS CUT, COLOR, SIZE, CLARITY.

helo rosy , treystar is right! firstly in my humble opinion you should look at the cut of the two stones maximum return of light (best cut),you should ask the retailer regarding the spread of the two stones just becouse its 1,50ct doesnt meen it willl look better on your finger! it could have have poor spread it could be weighty underneath on the pavillion and this inturn will affect the return of light. between the two this is the first thing you should consider SECONDLY is the ring platinum ? white gold? yellow gold? as colours become more tinted as you come down the colour gradeing chart. H is the colour were most people start to percieve colour in diamond if your ring is plat or white golds this may become more apparent to you the wearer of the ring. if your going for size then you should pe prepared to take a lower colour as for size the average person on the street cant even tell the difference between a 1,00 and a 1,50 stone let alone a 1,41 and a 1,50 stone! as with most things in life though im afraid MONEY is always the factor.

I would most definately go for the H, 1.5 if it is a great cut and a true "H". For my last stone, I was considering a 1.4 vs a 1.5 as well, G for the smaller and H for the bigger. I could see the size difference but IMHO, I could not see the color differences between the G and H especially face up. Neither could 8 of my collegues who compared my 1.52 H to a G that my collegues has. I've heard that "I"s are when you starting seeing a bit more yellow and I would not worry about mounting that in platinum/white gold. I would not hesitate to go H again, even in larger sizes.

Hi, Thanks for the feedback all. I will definitely go with the H 1.50, I may even go with an I but that's debatable. It is an ideal cut & scores a 1.2 on the HCA so theres no reason why it shouldn't face up white. I would go with the G 1.40 if the setting was such that made the stone look larger, but the setting I want is the lower tiffany style six prong. When I tried on the 1.50 I fell in love, I knew I found my perfect size!
