I have looked long and hard for a specific type of setting that I see in practically every jewelry store but not anywhere online! I've all ready purchased my stone online and need to get the setting. If I can't find one soon I will resort to purchasing an over-priced one at a jewelry store. I am looking for an 18k white gold 4 prong setting that is solitaire or a simple cathedral and from the top view it gets a little thinner as the band approaches the diamond. It isn't a thick band and is very elegant. If you know of one online please post a link. Thanks! |

Take a look at these: This one is slightly ridged, but tapers near the center stone: http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=356&catid=7&filter_id=0&nav1=settings_channel.asp&page=1&col=3&row=3&pos=9&set_shape= ![]() Or this one: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Royal-Crown-in-18K-W%2FGold_769.htm# ![]() ________________________________ |

What you describe sounds very similar to what I was looking for for my solitaire. This one is platinum, but it's only $475 from Whiteflash and it's what I was leaning towards before I decided to go custom.![]()

Some more options, though much more expensive: http://www.billbarnes.com/product.asp?Product=10513 http://www.billbarnes.com/product.asp?Product=10512 Or this, much less expensive (around $300): http://www.dirtcheapdiamonds.com/engagement-detail.cfm?did=355400 ![]() ________________________________ |

I think the DCD looks to be the closest to what I'm looking for (I knew about this one) except it's not 18k and it looks kind of thicker. Take that one and make it a thinner 18k and we have a winner! There just doesn't seem to be any like this on-line. Thank you all for your help, I will be driving to a Columbus jewelry store tomorrow (where I know they have one exactly what I'm looking for) to see how much pain I might be taking from my wallet. I would probably normally be willing to bend a little but the one my girl friend tried on when we went ring shopping was just too georgeous in both of our opinions!

Shaf, What about going to the jewelry store that you saw that setting and asking them for the vendor (company) they bought that mounting from? If you can get that information, maybe you find it online for a less expensive price. Good luck!

Shaf: Have you tried: The other option is to just take your diamond of choice to a local jeweler and ask to have it set into the mounting of your choice.

Thank you all for your help. I went to a local jeweler and they wanted around $475 for an 18k white gold setting and mounting my diamond in it. They also said I would have to let them know by yesterday in order to have it by Thanksgiving. I thought this was too much so I decided to call the jewelry store that my girl friend and I initially visited a while back which had the setting that I was trying to find. I ended up driving two hours to get there, and they wanted $275 for the exact 14k white gold setting that my girlfriend and I loved. I was able to talk them down to $225 (including the mounting) and they had it finished for me in an hour! The jewelry store was Andrews Jewelers and they sell the beautiful hearts on fire diamond. So I guess the moral of the story is don't always rule out bying from a mall jewelry store.
