Hi everyone, I just had a question about what the depth and table %'s mean when referring to a princess cut stone, i.e. which numbers are better. Ideal cut ranges state depth 64-75 and table 62-68, but what is the best ratio between the two? And Im going to be using a simple prong setting, so what would be an appropriate girdle? I'd like to purchase an ideal cut F, VS1-VS2 in the .85-1.1ct range, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Mike

Mike Hi Mike and welcome to PS!The best ratio is debatable - many look for table 3-5 smaller than depth (tho mine's 7 less & fab) For ex, this SC stone has a table of 57 & a depth of 74 & is a very good performer. Yet this GOG diamond has the same depth & table & is an excellent performer. So, as you can tell, there are no hard n fast rules when it comes to a princess cut...Generally speaking though, look for table less than depth or a crown height 10 and above for a luvly fiery stone. I like girdles that are Medium or Med-Sl Thk on princesses. Stay away from Ex Thin or V Thin, esp if those areas are in/near the corners. Hope that helps a little - best of luck to you Mike! ![]() Edited to add: since I don't know your price range, I figured I'd post a few more w/in your specs that look promising .94 F VS2 & 1.02 F VS2
