I was thinking of buying a stone or two and having a jeweler I know make the necklace. Where could I buy the stone? Need it within a week or so.

The two below come from Acstones.com - more wearable sizes, but definitely not 1k. Creativegem.com (where the second link comes from) lists just about every color that got a tradename attached - worth looking for reference, IMO. Given the leisurely availability of this material. very fine and artistic cuting is often done in topaz. You may also want to run a search for "concave cut" on Pricescope for some more options of the kind. Also he tends to be a little cheaper on the exact same stones than some other places. IE. on stones from pala and other places. Plus Gary is a great guy to work with. ...........
