Hi, How much visible difference should I expect to see on a G versus I colored hearts & arrows diamond? Please help!

Face up G should look pretty white (if it is a solid G). An I will likely start to look a little "off white" face up, but will still be relatively white. I think an I is a very good value and will still look really nice. I went with an H which isn't all that far off from an I. Face up, there is little visible difference between that and a G or F (to me). For some reason , I color seems to be the point where I start noticing a little color. Some I's looked fine, some others I could see a touch of "warmth". Not quite sure why... I'd go look at some G's and some I's in person and compare if I were you.

I think it also depends on the size. Once mounted, I can barely tell the difference between a G to an I when viewed face up with excellent cut diamonds in sizes around 0.50 carats. The bigger the diamond, the more noticable. I had an H, 1.52, and I could not tell the difference between a G face up. I agree that with I, it starts to show more yellow in larger sizes and I too noticed more variation in the yellow with I colored stones..some were white looking, some looked noticebly yellower.

Hi, If possible you should look at them together. Some people are more color sensitive than others. Most people could not tell the difference between these two diamonds when set in a ring. But if you are color sensitive, it may stick out like a sore thumb and who wants to live with a sore thumb. Brian Knox |

I have an ideal cut "G" and an ideal cut "I." I noticed a difference immediately when I got my "I" stone and thought that it was quite a bit more "warm" than my "G." Now that they are both set, I still notice a difference in the color but the "I" looks great and is still white. It's just not as icy white as the "G."

TO SEE THE COLOR DIFFERENCE PLACE IT SIDE BY SIDE. ONCE IT'S MOUNTED AND NOT COMPARED WITH ANOTHER STONE IT'S VERY HARD TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE. I COLOR IS STILL VERY DESIRABLE AND MOST AFFORDABLE.
