Is there any way to know if you have a decent price for a fancy (Princess) cut without knowing the exact cut. The diamond has pretty good fire (I prefer round, more brilliant, she likes princess) but I do not have the dimensions yet. Here is the rest, .9 ct G SI2, EGL, Princess first price (w/out negotiation) is 3400. Any thoughts? thanks, PG

I could not find a 0.9 carat EGL G SI2 stone but it looks like between $2372-$3119 for a 0.94-0.95 carat Princess diamond (ignoring cut). You will want to make sure that a EGL certified diamond has the color and clarity stated (EGL can rate a diamond 2 color and clarity grades higher than GIA or AGS for the same stone). You might want to check out the Princess Cut Chart at http://www.pricescope.com/tutor_fnc1.asp pick your budget and Search by Price on the front page. Hope this helps.
