Hi everybody, First off I want to thank this forum and all the members for providing such a valuable source of knowledge and for helping to steer me in the right direction. Also, since I have been bad about folowing up on my threads and thanking the individuals who gave me advice I would like to thank you all now and apologize...i won't let it happen again! This time I am seeking opinions on setting ideas. The e-ring will have a princess cut center stone and I would like to have some side stones as well. Has anyone ever seen a band with star-set princess sidestones or could anyone give me an opinion on what that would look like. Part of me thinks it would be neat, but then the other part thinks it may just not look quite right and I have yet to find a picture of a similar style. If anybody has any input for or against I would appreciate it. Thank you all and have a great weekend!!! Sean |

Hi Sean, One of my favourite settings for the Princess is with pear side stones. It may sound like an odd combination, but it really does work. I wish I had a picture of this ring, but the bottom round part of the pear is next to the princess, with the pointed part facing out, they are set east - west, almost looks like an elongated trillion. The band is quite thin so the stones really stand out. I am not sure what you mean by star set princess side stones, could you perhaps link to a picture showing what you are thinking of? I wish you well and congratulations on your upcoming engagement. Bridget Pterodactyls rule. Except for the whole being extinct thing. |

ok... what is a star set princess?? I may have seen it (since i'm always online looking at rings), but just didn't know that's how it's described.

Hi Bridget, I was actually thinking about going with the pear cut side stones. I want to go with a thin knife edge band, and I liked the streamlined look that the pear stones provided. A jeweler told me I shouldn't do pears with a princes center. But now that I hear others are fond of this set up I may reconsider seeing as how that setting was my favorite out of the ones I saw. A star set princess is basically just a princess cut stone, but it is rotated 45 degrees. I'll try to attach a rough schematic. Thanks for the input! ![]()
