maybe the best thing is for you to share with us all of the information you have about the ring/stone you are about to purchase (including the price).  that way people here can give you a better sense.

Bing,
I wouldn't buy my engagement ring from them - you don't really know what you are getting.

you can do your own comps by plugging the center stone spec into the home page search engine here on PS. I found several Marquise of similar color, clarity and carat selling for $550-650

That leaves $300 to pay for the setting and 0.32 carat of Mele diamonds.

Sounds too cheap to be good quality.

We highly recommend working with a vendor that sells certified diamonds and shares all the info you need to judge the quality of the diamonds you are buying.

Bing,

We made some suggestions to you in another thread. Yet you seem determined to get something from this company without providing a whole lot of additional insight or additional info. In addition, you seem unwilling to do your homework and educate yourself on how to buy a good stone. Why is that?

Hrmmmmm.......

It seems you have been caught out touting your own "was - is" website Bling.

So what you might not have ever considered is that anyone doing research on your company has a good chance of finding this thread, and, Blingo!

I've never seen anything like this before:

http://www.philipnoel.com/showpages.asp?pid=1002

"Earn Money
PhilipNoel.com pays you 10% on products purchased by your visitors. For an example, a typical sale to new customers is around $250, meaning that you would earn $25 on a typical sale. You earn more cash for every purchase. The more you sell, the more you earn. PhilipNoel.com boasts one of the highest conversion rates of any online retail store, due to our price advantage, selection, and quality."

??????

P.S. I would never give my credit card to a website that doesn't have membership in consumer watch groups and security measures like JVC or Verisign.

Phoenixgirl,

Actually, this kind of thing is pretty common. If you read the deal in some of the business opportunity spam that you receive you will find quite a few offers that look about like this. You set up a website selling doodads, someone else processes and fulfills the order and they pay a commission to the original site. There are some major players that offer this sort of program. Usually they don’t put the advertisement for it on the front page to the consumer site (hint to Blingo). Amazon.com has a very successful program that’s pretty similar to this although they don’t pay this much. It allows an online seller of something unrelated, like jewelry, to have a link to a specific book on their site. If you buy one, Amazon ships the book and a portion of the proceeds go to the site that sent them the customer. It’s not an unreasonable system.

Amway has made many millionaires with this kind of system.

Yes, and they are even clever enough to operate under so many business names that even if you were to boycott "amway" itself, you could still be supporting their scam by purchasing any number of affiliated products with top names you wouldn't even think of as being related to their business.

Guess many of them have the last laugh though.

Brian, I agree. I guess not enough have tried it. I once saw on the local news that the state of Hawaii comes in something like #2 in spam consumption. Nothing we should be proud of necessarily, but it's true. We have made it a local must at potlucks and outings to carry along our Spam Musubi.

That's a Jersey thing if I ever heard one. This Jersey girl forgot about that!

Okay, back to the ring here. Bleh! I agree the ring/stones are way too cheap to be of decent quality. . . The center diamond isn't even certified so I'm SURE it's probably at least a color grade or two lower and for all we know the main stone may be an I1 rather than an SI2.

Either reread the tutorial or advise your buddies at your company there to certify the stones and give the dimentions of each stone.

People here WAY more savy than your little web site can cater to!

F&I, a girl after my own.....appetite! I agree, out of the can, , although we have been known to slice it up real thin and throw it in a hot bowl of saimin (or ramen) with some other yummy garnishes and veggies.

Mara, I grew up eating it with (fresh) mac cheese that mom made. I never experienced boxed mac cheese until I was well into adulthood since I always had it fresh. Mom wrapped it with bacon (for added pork fat) and dressed it in pineapple and brown sugar (much like a little ham) and voila, instant dinner!

And, cooking those canned green beans for several hours. I'd shoot each and every bean - putting them out of their misery. Geez, are there any vitamins left after said cook-a-thon?

Though I've been in the South most of my adult life, except for cheese grits, fired chicken (which I allow myself to eat once a quarter)& NC pork bbq the Southern Cuisine escapes my pallette.

oh and i am not sure how it happened, did some of you think that philip noel is my site??!?!? Hehehe, sorry that i sounded so new to the whole ring buying thing, and being a moderator of a few webforums myself, i totally understand your behavior...

anyway, i think i will definetly stay away from that and check out some of hte other quality sites you guys named...

oh and i do have my own buisness and here is the website for my shop

i just wanted to make sure so the real owners of philipnoel.com dont accuse me of trying to imitate them

anyway, thanks for your replies.

Bing (please dont call me bling, bing is my real name, means ice in chinese, which now that i think about it, i guess could also mean bling bling haha)

RockyTalky New here, looking to buy engagement ring...help? Hi all, i was directed here by a freind who said you guys would be a great benefit for my needs.

my situation is that I am looking to buy a engagement/marriage ring for my gf, she just wants one ring, in stead of the engagement and then wedding band since we will only have a very short engagement period.

anyway, i went to local stores and was quite confused by the lack of consistency in pricing and quality.

and then i saw some rings at very nice prices at www.philipnoel.com

i am sorry but is there a special ettiquite(sp) to posting on pricescope that i was not aware of?

I wasnt aware that my posts were spams...i thought i was very politely asking for information..

first time i asked, i got only a few responses, and only one of them pertained to the site at all--"i have never heard of them"

so i figure i didnt get my point across was mainly focused on whether or not philipnoel.com was trustworthy, i there for posted another question asking specifically for this site...

this is spam?

I am a moderator on www.volvospeed.com and i can honestly say, there are plenty of quetions like this asked all the time, someone will come in and ask, "where can i get a cat-back exhuast for my volvo 850" in it he will mention www.eurosportuning.com, and we will reply with many sites that do carry such a system, so he/she will post again wtih a question like "is www.eurosportuning.com trust worthy", at which time we would tell him yes or no...

I am really kinda surprised that you would respond with this kind of attitude, i mean i know htat most of you are probably relatively well off with a lot of jewlery experience, but there is no reason to call someone who may not be as rich or experienced a "fool" when they have only made TWO posts about his current situtation, both of which are consitent...

i dont want to start a war of words here, I just honestly did not know how I insulted some of you buy my four total messages...?

Reena & Melissa, I can't really explain it, but if you hang on these forums long enough, you develop a gut feeling for what's a real inquiry vs. a spammer. I'd been on DT for a few years and we'd seen them over and over, and on here occasionally. Someone like Garry has a built in detector for these things. Sometimes we're wrong and it turns out that they actually show themselves to be asking legit questions, but most spammers have a "profile" so to speak. I picked up on this one almost immediately. And definitely after the second post.
