I am going to see a 1.4 carat box radiant diamond tomorrow. It is close to perfectly square, H color, 65% depth, 65% table(ideal cut), VVS2. I am not sure what the crown depth is or the pavilion angle but I'm told it is an ideal cut. I am getting a platinum band with it and the whole package is for $9,000. I was told this diamond could easily sell for $12,000 but because of my patience for the length of time we had been talking, they were giving me a break. Is this a good buy? I had wanted a better color grade but since the cut is so great, the lower color grade may not make as much of a difference as I originally thought. I just want to make sure I don't get burned on this since it is a good chunk of change. Is this a deal, fair priced, or over priced? Any comments are appreciated. |

Hi Wolverine1914, I assume you are buying in local B&M store. Does it have GIA grading report? $9,000 sounds ok. $12,000 would be a bit too much. It is difficult to find ideal cut radiant. Why not to drop clarity to VS1-2 (still eye-clean) and get F or G for less money? Pricescope |
