I know this is OT but I don't know where else to ask. Could someone tell me(or give me a link) what is the proper way to propose. 1)What knee are you suppose to get down on? 2)Which hand are you suppose to slid the ring on? 3)Which finger? 4)When are you suppose to ask "will you marry me"? When you present the ring When you slide the ring on her finger Before she even see's the ring Thanks.

Great questions Mikee ! :) Why so official? Let me tell what I think 1)What knee are you suppose to get down on? Doesn't matter. You can always explain that you're left-hander. 2)Which hand are you suppose to slid the ring on? Left unless you are Jewish or Orthodox Christian. 3)Which finger? Ring finger of course. But try all and leave on the one that fits the best! 4)When are you suppose to ask "will you marry me"? It doesn't matter at all Just give her a ring - words are optional. You might as well write it on the ring, sky, cake, etc, etc.Improvise :) Pricescope |

Hi! I think that you answered him fine, but maybe a nice romantic dinner would be a nice final touch. My husband told me he had a surprise for me, and he told me to close my eyes (I HAD NO IDEA) - he told me to open my eyes, and when I did he was on his knee (not sure which one - believe me it doesn't matter!) holding open the box with the ring - he asked me to marry him. Honestly - the element of it all is so wonderful that it all just falls into place. Best of luck - let us know how it goes for you. Is this a surprise or does she know?

Thanks guys. Know one knows what knee you are suppose to be on? I know she wont care and even notice what knee I'm on, I'm just curious in the history and how the proposal came about. Why the man get's down on one knee, etc., etc. Any good link with this kind of info? |

Here is a website with some general information about the history of wedding traditions. And my family thinks I am crazy because I want a "sixpence for my shoe" for my wedding. KB http://www.advol.com/wedshops/traditions.htm |
