Dear Sir, I've read through the tutorial, really amazing introduction, thank you for your kind work. i compared carefully between the worst case you presented for AGS 0 ,Tolkowsky Ideal and also with the stone I plan to buy, following table is the comparison. Table / Crown Angle / Pavilion Angle / Pavilion % The Worst AGS 0 57 35.8 41.25 Tolkowsky Ideal 53 34.5 40.75 43.1 The one I found 55 34.2 41.2 43.4 you see, the difference is not too much, at least for such layman like me. Would you give me some advise on the diamond I find comparing with the ideal cut defined in your theory? Thank you very much! |

If this chart comes out you will see how critical the small increase in pavilion angle has on the stone you are considering. Have you discovered HCA yet? - the third link at the top - Cut Adviser. Sorry the chart did not come out, but if you would like to read more detail then www.diamond-cut.com.au will bore you to tears:) Garry Holloway FGAA DipDT |
