Is there much visual difference between a .64 ct. and an .71 ct. on a round diamond?

Hey It depends on the way it is cut. If you have two "ideal" cut diamonds, most likely you will not be able to see a difference - although I'm sure someone here could tell the difference when place side by side. ![]() If the larger had a poor cut - and saved ct. weight, but the smaller had an ideal cut, they might look the same and even have the same mm measurement. EDIT: And on the other hand, if the smaller was a poor cut - took advantage of weight and the larger were ideal or even out of ideal but was top heavy...they may look dramatically different. Hope this helps ![]() *ideal can have different proportions, but let say for our purposes they should generally fall into AGA 1A & 1B cut ranges and AGS 0 etc.

If the same proportions my answer is probably. It's a 12% increase or so, so you do notice a size difference. Of course this is subjective, what may be a miniscule difference to one person, may be noticeable to another.

No, very little. If they are both identically cut for the same proportions the difference in diameter would be just barely discernible. There are nicely cut .64ct stones that look quite a bit larger than some overly deep .71ct stones. The relative diameter is a poor tool to use for judgment of carat weight. We see many 1 carat round diamonds small enough in diameter to be well cut 3/4 ct rounds. People just don't know better and fall for the weight instead of the looks of a well cut stone. David S. A well-cut 3/4 carat is about 5.9 mm, right?
