I'm wondering if re: the modern cushion, one should go by the oval or the radiant gem appraisers cut chart. Thanks.

I'll be interested in what others have to say because I tried to use that tool using the oval cut but it's really more of a combination of the two, in terms of shape. The GA cut chart says "oval/cushion" I believe.

Ohhh, did I just see a tasty one. I just sent you the link!!!

I would think the modern brilliant type cushion would be more like the oval...hmmm!

i didnt know the answer to that either so i aimed for right in between. but i agree with you--they're much more similar to an oval than a radiant.

I suggest that if the stone is a square cushion to use the round chart and if an oblong shape use the oval chart. If it it just a bit longer than wide use a combination of the two charts.

You'll generally find that modern cushions are either cut to be superior, such as the Jubilee cut, or cut to be heavy and overly deep. Rarely is there a stone in between. I hope you find a very good one, because most are poor examples.

How does a 61.1 depth, 57 table sound? It's a 1.10 ratio. I did just notice that it has facets that are slightly chunkier facets than the modern cushion brilliant that I see at times (where it truly looks like a round) this has slightly diff placement and slightly bigger chunks...I wonder if the stone would be darker with more contrast as a result. Thanks Dave!
I've already emailed the J man. I'm SURE he's gonna kill me now. First princess. Then jubilee. Then cushion. Then princess then jubilee then cushion

The depth and table sound promising. Be sure about the crown height and angles. Many of these get way too steep on the angles. The L:W ration sounds "short", but maybe that's what you prefer. I can live with it, but you are the one who needs to like it...
