Finally, I think that I have found the diamond/setting that will be perfect for my girl. For those of you who have helped in the past, you already know what I have been looking for, but for those of you who have not been involved I will get you up to speed. My girlfriend loves princess diamonds because of the square look, not necessarily for the diamonds themselves, but she also loves the sparkle of a round. In terms of settings she likes the appearance of white gold or platinum. She prefers a setting that is elegant and not overbearing. She particularly likes settings with somewhat of an antique look to them. That all being said this is what I have come up with. After looking at hundreds of settings and even more diamonds, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this site and talk with some of the people here. One thing led to another and I ended up working with Jonathan and his people from GOG. Going with the square-like diamond concept he turned me on to the Jubilee and immediately I was sold. I continued to look at other diamonds, but in the end I am going to go with this stone from GOG or one very similar: http://www.goodoldgold.com/jubilee_0_56ct_f_vs2.htm. That was a fairly easy decision, but the setting was not. To spare you the pain of reading about my journeys, I will just cut to the chase and tell you that I have decided to go with a precision set setting. I have attached a picture of the setting for you all to see. Let me know what you folks think because I have come to learn that you all are a wonderful resource and sounding board. Thanks. |

I personally think that setting is just beautiful--understated yet interesting at the same time. A Jubilee center stone will really make it pop! I also think the 4 prongs will emphasize the "square-ness" of the Jubilee nicely for you. I really like it...but what's there not to like?

I love the setting. It's antique looking, simple and elegant. One question...Do the diamonds go all the way around the band? If so, it may not be possible to re-size it in the future without remaking the ring. You might want to make sure that you get the size right or that you allow a little bit extra room in case she grows, .

Lovely, and the jubilee gets a huge THUMBS UP from another lover of square-looks-and-round-sparkle! ![]() She's a very lucky girl!
